Chapter 2

Twilight only had an hour till she was going to meet Big Mac at the Hay Barn and she was still getting ready trying hard to keep her promise to Spike.

“Spike… Spike where is my brush” yells Twilight from the upper floor of the library

“In the bathroom were you left it...TWO MINUTES AGO” Spike yells back

“Spike I’m just worr- I just want to look my best and I have to leave soon, so I can get there on time.” Says Twilight

Spike raises an eyebrow “Remember your promise” says Spike

“Yes I remember I will act like a normal pony and not freak out.” Says Twilight frowning

Spike stares at her for a few seconds “Okay good…You have your money?” asks Spike

“Yep I think I’m just about ready to go” says Twilight

After a few more minutes of Twilight running around trying to get ready she started her walk to the Hay Barn.
“It’s going to be okay Twilight just remember your promise” Twilight says to herself

The restaurant comes into view and Big Mac is already standing there.

Oh no oh no I am late he’s going to hate me..No stop this Twilight remember your promise you have to keep it. Be cool it will all work out. Twilight thinks

“Hey I’m sorry I thought you said to meet you here at six” says Twilight trying to keep a clam voice

“Eeyup I just got here early Ma’am” says Big Mac

“Oh please Big Mac call me Twilight, Ma’am is too formal” says Twilight hoping her cheeks were not as red as they felt.

“Ok then Miss Twilight how’s about we go in” says Big Mac

Not really what I meant but it’s better than ma’am Twilight thinks

“Hi welcome to the Hay Barn table for two?” asks a Black Pegasus

“Eeyup” says Big Mac

“Okay right this way” says the Pegasus leading them to a table “here you are you a waiter will be with you soon” she says putting the menus on the table

Twilight looks at her menu occasionally looking up at Big Mac.

“Hi my name is Green Palette and I will be your waitress for the night do you know what you would like or can I start you off with some drinks” asks Green Palette

“Ladies first” says Big Mac looking at Twilight

“Umm I’ll have the flower sandwich and a side of hay fries” says Twilight

“And to Drink” asks Palette

“Oh just water will be fine” says Twilight handing Palette the menu

“And for you Sir” says Palette looking at Big Mac

“The mixed salad and hay fries and just water to drink would be nice” say Big Mac

“Okay I’ll go put that in right away” says Palette walking away

Twilight looks up at Big Mac who smiles at her.

“So how has the apple bucking been going?”Asks Twilight

“Great we’re ahead of schedule, Apple Jack’s really improved at her speed and the number of apples she knocks down” says Big Mac

They sit in silence for a little bit while Twilight tries to think of another question to ask.

“So Miss Twilight how have your studies been going?” asks Big Mac

“Oh well they have been good Spike gets mad when I try to study a whole bunch of things at once, because of all the books he had to put away” says Twilight

“Have you learned any new spells?” asks Big Mac

“Nothing Really” Says Twilight

“Okay let me see if I got this right you got the Flower Sandwich and hay fries and you got the Mixed Salad and hay fries. Is
there anything else I can get you” asks Palette

“Noppe” says Big Mac

Palette gives him an awkward smile and walks away. Twilight looks at Big Mac and they both laugh. They eat while making small talk.

“That was good” says Twilight as they walk out of the restaurant

“Eeyup thanks for inviting me” says Big Mac

“Thanks for saving me” says Twilight

“Naw it was nothing” says Big Mac

“Ya but it meant a lot” says Twilight looking at the ground

“I know… well it’s a nice night would you like to go for a walk around the lake?” asks Big Mac smiling at Twilight

“Ya that sounds really nice” says Twilight blushing

Twilight dips her hoof into the lake and Big Mac does the same.

“Wow it’s not really even that cold” says Twilight

“Eeyup still warm from the hot day” says Big Mac as they continue to walk.

“I know it was really hot I don’t know why the Pegasus’s didn’t put any clouds in the sky” says Twilight

“Oh I know but you know them Pegasus always have their reasons” say Big Mac

They sit down in the grass under a tree looking out at the calm lake.

“Do you know how to swim Miss Twilight” asks Big Mac

“Please Big Mac don’t call me Miss that sounds like something you would say to an adult. Were both friends here aren’t we?”

says Twilight staring at him

“Hmm How’s about I call you Twi if you would call me Mac” says Big Mac smiling at her

“You got your self a deal Mac” says Twilight laughing “and yes I can swim why are you asking”

Big Mac grabs Twilight and throws her over his shoulder and runs into the water. Twilight screams as the cool water hit her. Big Mac lets her go and she jumps on him causing him to go under then back up. He laughs and pushes her off diving under water and grabbing her leg and pulling her under. Big Mac lets go and Twilight swims out further causing Big Mac to freak out.

“Twi where are you” he says franticly splashing around in the water

“Over here you loser” yells Twilight Laughing

Big Mac swims over to her and they just float for a bit. They come out of the water soaking wet and laughing as the plop down on the grass. They both breathe heavily trying to catch their breath through the laughing. Twilight flips over on the grass and looks at Big Mac who is staring at her. They look at each other for a long time and then stand up.

“This has been the most fun I have had in a long time, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from work and have some fun” says Big Mac staring at Twilight

“Ya this was great, you’re great” say Twilight

Oh no did I really just say that ugh Twilight you’re so stupid think before you speak. Twilight thinks cursing her shelf

“Twi…I-I like you but…I just I-I’m sorry” says Big Mac Looking away

Twilight fights back tears as her vision states to blur.

Stupid it was going so well until you opened your big mouth Thinks Twilight

“I… Mac I like you you’re the nicest stallion I have ever meet and I like you more than a friend, but your Apple Jacks brother and I should have never opened my big mouth. Everything was-

Big Mac presses his lips against Twilights. It takes her by surprise and it takes her a second before she kisses him back. They pull away and stare at each other.

“That was a nice way to tell me to shut up” says Twilight

“Eeyup” says Big Mac leaning in and pressing his lips to Twilights again.
