The Darkness Within

Twilight was looking up at the sky reminiscing when Celestia told her not to use Dark Magic ever again. Ever since using Dark Magic she could feel this pull that bewildered her. It was like it wanted her to use dark magic. She thought about this laying on top of Rainbow’s cloud home. While she zoned out thinking, their was a flash of something dashing in the sky. When she escaped her trance she looked up. The words “Hi Twi” was spelt in the clouds.

“Hi Dashie.” She yelled up at the sky as Rainbow flashed toward her. She came to an abrupt stop and drifted down next to her. Rainbow laid on her side and wrapped twilight with her wing.

“So what you thinking about, Twi?” Twilight turned to look at Rainbow.

“Nothing much, just wanted to relax and look at the beautiful vibrant blue sky.” She smiled at her and gave her a little kiss on the side of Rainbows cheek.

“Well, then what would you like to do with the amazing Rainbow, m’lady.” Rainbow flew up into the air and put a hoof out to help twilight up. Rainbow had a very nice and calming smile.

“Would the amazing Rainbow like to fly around town.” Twilight took Rainbows outstretched hand as Rainbow yanked and pulled Twilight into Rainbows embrace.

“I think we can do that.” Rainbow kept her in that embrace as she flew up. Once high in the air Rainbow let go and twilight started to fall. She quickly started to flap her long purple wings, to keep flight. Rainbow started to laugh.”You should have seen your face!!! You looked terrified!!!”

“Haha, very funny.” Twilight responded a little sarcastically. She ended up hitting Rainbow real softly.

“Oh come on. It was a joke.” Rainbow exclaimed. Twilight smiled at Rainbow with a smile that said ‘I will get you back later’.

“Come on. Lets just fly around town. Like we were going to do before you ruin another moment.” Twilight said

“Ok. ok. Fine let’s go… Wait what moment?” Rainbow was getting a little confused.

Twilight giggled and started to fly away without answering Rainbow.

Twilight stepped into the library of her castle after their flying session. Her wings a little sore and she was so tired. The reason she needs to fly a little more than she does. Her wings are still too weak to carry her for long.

The Dark Magic still had a slight tug in the back of her mind. Celestia didn’tt want her to use dark magic so she put a spell to lock it away. Twilight was looking through her books when she came across a peculiar entry in her book. It was about the locking spell on Twilight. The temptation to read was too much for Twilight. She read how to cast and remove one that isn’t yours. She wanted to test this dark magic but she didn’t want to disobey Celestia.

Curiosity won. She tried to cast the spell. She started to float up in a purple ball of light. There was a big yellow light lock in front of her and as she cast the spell, it started to unlock. After a minute it finally unlocked and she was exhausted. She took a break and to see if it worked. She tried to cast dark magic and it worked. Her eye whites turned green and a purple trail of light started to form at the corner of her eyes. The pull from the dark energy got stronger than before.

She stopped casting, satisfied with the result. She put the book away, feeling accomplished that she broke Celestia’s spell. Now Twilight tries to test the dark magic and every time she uses it, the pull gets stronger. She went on for a little bit. She didn’t go too far with it. She levitated a few hundred books. She did some other everyday things that worked ten times better than with regular magic. The pull got strong enough to give her a headache.

It was getting late and she thought she should go to bed. Heading to bed she saw something in the corner of her eye. A shadowy figure. She chased it. When she finally cornered it. The pony turned to reveal sombra.

“B...But we destroyed you. I saw it!!!” Twilight out of breath, her eyes darting for a way she could quickly escape.

BWAHAHAHAHA, YOU WILL NEVER DESTROY ME Sombra’s voice echoed in Twilight’s head. Suddenly Twilight got a killer headache. She closed her eyes and wrapped her hooves around her head.

When the headache subsided, she opened her eyes and Sombra was gone. She rubbed her eyes to see if he would return. He didn’t.

After that ordeal, she headed to the bathroom to get ready for bed. She looked into the mirror and screamed. As her eye whites were turned green and she had that purple trail off of the edge of her eye.

She woke up from when she collapsed on the floor from her headache. She decided to just go to bed without entering the bathroom. She was heading for her bedroom, but when she turned a corner in her castle. She ended up in Rainbow’s floating cloud house. She turned back and her castle was gone.

She looked around frantic, and confused of what happened. She looked outside and it seemed to be day. It can’t be considering it was just night. When she got a look outside she nearly fainted. The house was being lowered into the lava.

She left the house and jumped into the air to try to fly. She jumped out over the lava and started to fall. Her wings were gone. She tried to levitate herself, but her magic wasn’t working.

WELL, WELL, WELL. Sombra’s head appeared out of nowhere and was looking at her from below with his dark green eyes. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU’RE IN A PREDICAMENT HERE. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY YOU ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF HERE ALIVE. Sombra’s voice boomed in Twilight’s head. YOU WILL HAVE TO USE DARK MAGIC. Sombra’s ghostly head disappeared and she was left with a choice. She can use dark magic or perish.

She prepared herself and tried to turn the lava into a soft cushion of pillows. Before it worked she woke up in her bed with a ice pack on her head. She was profusely sweating, and her eyes were bloodshot. Twilight clamored out of her bed creating a lot of noise.

Her door swung open, and spike ran in. “Twilight! You’re awake!” Spike ran to hug Twilight. “I found you in the library uncontinuous fidgeting around like you were having a nightmare. You were sweating so much, and you had a fever.”

Once spike stopped explaining everything, a new visitor entered the room at sound speeds, but slowed down just enough to gently hug twilight. This new visitor had tears in her eyes. She seemed to have been crying.

Rainbow didn’t say anything she just cried into Twilight’s arms. When she did say something she said. “I was so worried, you just kept getting worse and worse.” She said so quietly only she could hear it. “What happened?” Rainbow choked on these last two words.

“I… I don’t know. I started to feel light headed and I guess fainted.” Twilight lied. She wasn’t going to tell them she was using dark magic now was she. “I’m ok now, Rainbow. I’m ok.”

Rainbow kept sobbing into Twilight. Twilight kissed Rainbow on her cheek. Rainbow looked up and saw something in Twilight’s eye. It was like her eye whites turned green.
