I always forget in this story that technically Sunset is still a huge ass jerk that does everything for her own gain. I mean, it was not a secret, but sometimes it loosk like she actually legitimately cares about the people that got hurt during the Fall.
That and combined with the fact that Starlight was captured and blanked during the Fall, something tells me that the ones responsible for the "disappearance" of the blanked machine are starting to become even more obvious.
I
I am certainly having a heck of a time wondering just what Sunset's whole plan is. I can at least guess some of it, but as of now it's mostly guesswork. But even so, I still have a gut feeling that it's going to be very... Unsettling.
I'm not sure if it's been brought up before, but I wonder if the reason there's such strong dislike for the Caribou does is because many mares see them as what would've happened to them had the Caribou's hold never been broken.
Utterly broken, shameless and subordinate, totally devoted to their masters. A dark mirror of sorts, staring them in the face whenever the does are around.
Certainly a harrowing way to view it.

I mean, someone could be an awful, evil, power-hungry person and still care about something/someone. Like, maybe bad example, but Hitler apparently was really into animal welfare. That doesn't not make him a genocidal dictator.
Sunset is shown in her occasional POV shot to be clearly planning something and having questionable intentions and motivations, but still seems to be doing more good than harm overall...at least for now. Same with Al Capone, a gangster and murderer, running soup kitchens for the poor and homeless during the Great Depression...while also potentially only doing this to bolster his public image, and while extorting businesses to supply the kitchen.
With the blanking device, I do wonder if Starlight behaving "better than most re-blanks" maybe means Sunset/her group have already used it on her or something like that. I mean, iirc, a previous chapter said they knew Sunset didn't do it, but any other group member could have.

I guess you have point with your examples. A lot of people can be either huge f*cking ass holes that go on their ways and ruin some people's lifes, but have a soft spot and feelings towards others and try to legitimately help them as well, but could also just do it for their image as well.
Also with Starlight and the blanking device, in my head cannon, i just believe that Starlight was preparing some plans with Sunset about the take over of Equestria even probably before the Fall, with Starlight only knowing the more specific details or something else that Sunset doesn't know and now is trying to make Starlight remember using the device.

Just finished reading this chapter and found one more error:
(A/N)
(funny image of Sunset being her own secretary)
Alrighty then; Sunset is just so... ominous. Maybe the tone seems darker since I just watched Emesis Blue a short while ago?
Whatever the case may be leaves me somewhat afraid of her seeming conspiracy.
