Chapter One: The Crash

Author's Note:

This chapter is basically character development and how I get transported to the pony universe.

I know there isnt any ponies yet but there will be in the next chapter!!! Any constructive criticism / feedback is appreciated :) I am new to writing stories and had this idea in my head for a long ass time. Doesn't hurt to try eh?

"Number 68!" Damon shouted as he picked up the order from the bench and hands it over to the customer.

"There you go sir, have a goodnight. Mind the rain and thunder on the way out!" He said to the customer with a smile.

"Cheers mate." The customer replied as he walked off with the freshly wrapped fish and chips parcel.

Damon then looked the ever slow ticking clock. It read 7:30pm. He gave a sigh as he knew as his co-worker Cody could leave earlier tonight.

"7:30 boys! I'm out of here!" Cody exclaimed, "You can leave earlier next time Damo." He said with a cheeky smile.

"Yeah yeah yeah... Cya." Damon mumbled under his breath as Cody walked to the back door and left. "Hopefully the boss doesn't get 'confused' with my pay again unlike last time." He thought to himself as he began the cleaning duties of the shop.

Damon's other co-worker, Kevin approached him and said, "You can do second lot of dishes and mop front floors tonight, you have been working a lot lately with all these filling in for other people shifts. You sure you are okay?"

"Yeah, I am fine... More money for me I guess." Damon explained with a slight depressing tone in his breath as he kept sweeping the back floors while Kevin was doing first lot of dishes.

Kevin looks back at Damon with concern and asks, "What's going on dude? Tell me."

"It's nothing to major mate, just sitting on my arse all day with nothing practical to do 3 quarters of the time is quite... depressing. Sure, there's going for a shoot with my dad down at the gun range once or twice a month, or this job with 2 shifts a week for 7 hours. But, it's just not enough." Damon stops sweeping and continues to speak, "All my life is... is just video games all day. That or sleep all day, or perhaps just laze around the house like a sloth. I have been applying for second jobs but-" Damon's small rant was interrupted by the boss.

"Get back to work mate." The boss said as he went around the back of the shop and lighted up a cigarette.

Damon shakes his head and continues to sweep the floor in silence.

Damon looks up the clock again. It read 8:00pm. It was time to close up the shop.

"I'll lock up the doors." Damon said to Kevin as he grabbed the locks that were tucked away under the counter. He then went outside in the pouring rain and thunder and began to pull down the shutters to protect the windows.

Damon began to think for a few minutes outside while he was locking up. "What's going on for tomorrow?" He asked himself. "I know... Fuck all with a side of fuck all... Followed by work at 5. Fuck." He exclaimed as he finished locking up the windows and moved back inside the shop to finish up his cleaning duties.

The boss handed Damon the dirty dishes to clean. He rolled his eyes and he got straight to cleaning. It takes Damon normally about 20 or so minutes to complete the task.

The thunder roared louder as it was quite close to the shop. The rain pelted the roofs and street. The streets empty and dark with slight amounts of light coming from the street posts and traffic lights trying to make the area brighter. But it was way too dark and stormy outside for anyone to be out.

As Damon finished the second lot dishes, he looked back at the slow ticking clock and it read 8:25pm. Five more minutes and it was finally time to go home.

"Just got to mop then I am out of here." Damon thought to himself as he prepared the mop and bucket.

He filled it up with with hot water and soap and went down to the front floors and began to mop. Kevin had almost finished his lot of duties. A few minutes passed as Damon mopped the floors. The rain kept on pouring heavily as it showed no signs of stopping any time soon.

Damon looked at the clock for the last time as it read 8:30pm. Time to go home. As Damon put away the mop and bucket, he picked up his phone, wallet and car keys and went straight out into the cold, dark, wet outdoors without saying anything. He unlocked his orange Kia Rio '10 hatchback and jumped straight in. He started up his car and automatically reversed out and drove out of the car park. Damon looked both ways through the pouring rain. There were no cars coming. He drifted out onto the road and began his trip back home.

Meanwhile, Kevin raised an eyebrow as Damon was leaving. "Wonder why he is such in a hurry." He thought to himself as Kevin got into his own car and drove off into the other direction carefully.

Damon kept on speeding down the main roads, almost doing 100km/h in an 80 zone. Thankfully, the streets were empty but extremely slippery and wet. Or at least he thought so... As he was speeding down the road, he saw a beam of light coming down a side street from the main road. As Damon looked at the light, it got brighter and brighter. Then all of a sudden... The lightning strikes in front Damon's car. Sending him into shock and causing him to swerve the car into the beam of light in the side street. The loudness of the thunder deafened him and the bright light of the lightning blinded Damon as he collided with the car in the side street. Sending him to flip up high and come tumbling down back onto the pavement. The car rolled and rolled until it came to a standstill onto an empty lot next to the shopping centre.
