It’s been a while since I did my last “Director’s Cut” on Caught and Punished. I just didn’t feel like doing it for a while, but they are back. This Director’s cut will be as long as a short one-shot, so this will have a lot in it. I’ll start off with chapter 23. 

First, the show never went into why Starlight and Sunburst lost contact. Some fans think Starlight just didn’t try. Others think she did, but one thing or another got in the way.

Good news for if you felt chapter 26 of Caught and Punished was too short: chapter 27 will be one of the longest chapters of the whole story up to this point. It looks like it will be very close to, if not over, 7,000 words and may surpass chapter 18's 7,373-word count when it's finished.

First off, chapter 20. A big thing I’ll note was that I almost forgot about Double Diamond. I planned for him to fully forgive Starlight after she played her role in stopping the changeling attack, but when I was writing the first half of chapter 20, I wasn’t thinking about Diamond.

I've been in the early stages of editing chapter 24 of Caught and Punished...and this has been a rough one. It's much tougher than I thought it would be going in. I hate having to delay chapters, but I don't think I'll be able to have chapter 24 feel "right" in the next 3 or 4 days, so chapter 24 is going to be delayed by one week.

Chapter 21 of Caught and Punished is in the final parts of proofreading, but here's a little sample of the first part of it, if you want a sneak peek. All of the remaining chapters are now planned to be out one by one every 2 weeks, so to kinda make up for not going updates weekly anymore like I wanted, I'm thinking of doing this 2 or 3 days before each new chapter is out.

First off, chapter 16 was a pain to get to feel right. It even delayed the chapter coming out, since I didn't expect to have so much trouble.

One of the things I had a bit of trouble with was with Starlight being able to tell that changelings had taken the places of ponies in Ponyville. You might think that having a character act odd would be enough. I would say, WRONG!

Chapter 18 of Caught and Punished is in the process of being edited and, at over 6,000 words, it will be the longest chapter of the story up to this point. Because of this, it well be out in about 5 days, not 2 or 3 days as the weekly update schedule would have it. There's too good a chance it'll have the errors that normally wouldn't be there if I rush it out.

After publishing chapter 16 a few hours ago, Caught and Punished is just over 66,000 words. Including the prologue, it's at 17 chapters and counting.

My longest story, A Giant Adventure to Equestria is, barring any possible rewrites of chapter 3 and maybe 5, 66,700 words and it's tied with When Dating a Sunset... with the most chapters: 18. Chapter 17 of Caught and Punished will break the word count record by pushing that word count over 70,000 when it's out.

Because I primarily (but not always) write light-hearted, silly stories, chapter 13 of Caught and Punished was overall the most enjoyable to write up to this point.

Up to this point in Caught and Punished, Starlight and Sam had been shown either talking, listening to music, or eating when they’re at home, so it was long overdue to show them do something else.

I figured it was time to mention that more ponies in Ponyville were getting used to Sam and thinking better of him. This was the point of him saying the “dirty looks” were stopping. I went back and forth about having some ponies say “hi” or something to him as he and Starlight were heading to Twilight’s castle, but decided to just have it summarized.

First, this is the first story I've adopted.

Beacuse Donnnnn, who wrote the story, asked me to not ret-con anything in the chapters he wrote (prologue and chapters 1-4), there won't be too many notable edits here, considering this director's cut is about six chapters.

The single biggest change overall to the story is what my version of the story is more descriptive. Outside of that, the most noteworthy edits are in chapter 2.
