The title is descriptive enough, but I don't think I need to tell any of you how rough 2020 was. For me, 2020 and 2021 were both years of stress, near-homelessness, loss, joblessness, and many other difficulties. Writing slowed, and then stopped.

I have tried thrice to rewriting Smashing Down, or to pick up where I last left off. Every time, I am reminded that the story was written when I was sixteen, in 2013. My writing back then was decent enough to get attention, but I look back on a lot of it with embarrassment, for a large variety of reasons.

I last posted an update nearly two years ago stating that I would be editing Smashing Down. That turned out to be a lie, a task I gave up on several months and barely a couple chapters in. Within that time, I have become a far better writer, and thought up far better ways to introduce the story and setting in a way that will both make more sense and make for a far more interesting story than the original.

My fellow Amer-... Wait, that came out wrong.

Ahem. My faithful readers: Work on the rewriting for Smashing Down has been a smashing success. Chapters have been edited to a format that is (slightly) more coherent, and the storyline might actually start making sense now. Only a bit more to do.

In other words, I am going to be developing a new story on the side. However, if any of you care, I have a couple that I am thinking about doing in full.

The first bit (Act I, Act II, and Act III) of Smashing Down are going to be rewritten, bit by bit, to keep the story consistent with how it currently is. Expect minor instability for the next few days.
