In my opinion, backstory and motivation should only explain why antagonists are what they are, not excuse them.

You shouldn't have an antagonist get off scot-free just because they've had a tragic backstory or good intentions. They need to put in the work and realize that what they did can't just be brushed off.

How am I supposed to get better if no matter what I do, I always make bad stories? Are all of them bad or most of them are? What am I doing wrong? What are the problems with my writing and what can I do to fix them? I really need to know the answer.

I just think that I would be better for everyone if I do. Nobody's in trouble, so there's no need to get angry at anyone. Just something that I've recently thought about.
