What I'm finding is that sometimes people tend to create their OC's based on their personality. Sometimes... But that is what I'm coming across in the story I'm writing that is basically made up of all OC's the Mane 6 are supporting cast. Every OC that I've created is the same way. However, the only thing that I haven't thought about is creating a background of the OC's that I have. I didn't think that was needed to make your OC believable.

I sort of made a backstory for the main OC I use a lot Sapphire Rose. She's a unicorn that lives in the crystal empire. I also have another one Betty Jewel. Betty Jewel is half human and half Pegasus. While I don't have much of a background for her, I think I've shown how she acts and thinks in the stories I have her written in.
