Ah, the quintessential tale of Snails pushing a rock up a hill.

I've always had a liking for flash fiction, and it's a shame that the amount of short stuff that's short because it's been written quickly and thoughtlessly gives it a bad rap. It's a pity that you wouldn't be able to upload anything this short to FIMFic these days, but such is life.

I remember someone recommending this story be expanded and made to show more and go into more detail about Snails's thoughts. While I'm sure that that's probably sound advice in general, I disagree in this case. The story of Snails pushing a rock up a hill is one of those things that's better told quickly, because you cut to the chase and don't make the story a torturous, belaboured behemoth; this sort of thing can outstay its welcome if played wrong. The ratio of meaning and memorability to words used is commendable, and it's a really relateable tale. So many of us, I'm sure, have been in Snails's hooves at some point in our lives. I know it invokes a kind of painful nostalgia for me, at least.
