Here is a list of popular Death Battle matchup ideas featuring characters from My Hero Academia and RWBY that might end up becoming actual episodes in the near future.

Please be advised that the connections between the characters contain minor and major spoilers for both series.

If you are already familiar with these characters or simply do not care about being spoiled, then sit back and enjoy the show.

CONNECTIONS:
* Both are blonde secondary protagonists in popular series about battling evil.

* Both have abilities common to their worlds (Semblances and Quirks, respectively).

* Both went to the most well known high schools of their worlds for training young heroes to fight evil, which came under attack by villains at some point in their series (Beacon Academy and U.A. High School, respectively).

* ⁠Both use firepower as their main ability and use gauntlets to help them with it (Yang has Ember Celica which is basically a gun gauntlet and Bakugo's dynamite gauntlets store his sweat to give extra power and range, respectively).

* Both also get stronger as the fight goes on (Yang's Semblance taking in more kinetic energy to dish out and the more Bakugo sweats the stronger his explosions become).

* Both were quite hotheaded initially (Yang, while mostly upbeat, would get pissed off pretty easily and Bakugo was an arrogant jerk with an inferiority complex), but after an event that traumatized them (Yang lost her arm during the fall of Beacon and All Might's retirement made Bakugo feel as if it was his fault), they started to have better control over their anger and also fight more tactically.

* Both have studied under seemingly weak yet actually pretty badass combatants (Qrow and Aizawa, respectively).

* Both also have a contrasting relationship with the main protagonists of their respective series (Yang initially has a very close relationship with her younger sister Ruby Rose and fully supports her as the leader of their team before questioning her leadership skills more and more during the later volumes, while Bakugo starts out as a ruthless bully to his former childhood friend Izuku Midoriya before eventually learning to accept him as both a teammate and a friendly rival during the later manga chapters and anime seasons).

CONNECTIONS:
* Both are ice manipulators with scars on their left eyes due to their parent’s actions (Jacques Schnee and Rei Todoroki, respectively), thus giving them father issues whilst their mothers were mostly removed from their lives.

* Both have older siblings who first held their title until they did something that caused them to be rejected by their fathers, later went on to be inspired by a warrior that believes themselves to be the hero but fights against the actual heroes, and joined a combat-oriented organisation (Winter Schnee and Dabi/Touya Todoroki respectively).

* Both were first introduced on opposing sides of their series' main protagonist (Ruby Rose and Izuku Midoriya, respectively) antagonizing them before joining their side thanks to the words of someone else that inspired them to free them from their fathers' influences: Weiss heeding her sister's advice and removing her bindings from the SDC to discover more about herself, and Shoto realizing that his quirk is his own and isn't (or shouldn't be) managed and controlled by his father.

* Additionally, both hail from upper-class families and both are able to manipulate other elements besides ice (the various functions of Dust for Weiss and fire for Shoto, respectively).

CONNECTIONS:
* Both are infamous animated villains created in the 2010s.

* Both had an abusive family which they killed, accidentally or intentionally, to escape from, even those who had helped them; Tomura slayed most of his family who actually liked him by mistake but later killed his abusive father. Cinder mercilessly murdered her abusive stepmother and stepsisters in rage, and later her hunter friend Rodhes (who pitied her and decided to train her in secret to become a Huntress) when he turned on her.

* Both later gained immense power in addition to their already natural powerful ability (Tomura gained the All for One Quirk, and Cinder gained the Fall Maiden's power).

* Both successfully killed an in-universe famous female hero who was known to be one of the best of the best, showcasing their power (Shigaraki killed Cathleen Bate a.k.a Star & Stripe, and Cinder famously murdered Pyrrha).

* But despite their infamy, they are not the main antagonist and are ultimately pieces in the dark ambitions of the powerful main antagonist (All for One and Salem respectively) whom had adopted them after they killed their family.

* Their archenemies are both young teenage prodigies, who attend a school for heroes and have a hidden power within them compared to the other oddities in their worlds (Izuku Midoriya and Ruby Rose).
