This may seem like a longshot, but here I shall put forward the argument that the Sonic movies and G5 take place in the same universe, and that Tom Wachowski and Hitch Trailblazer are in fact the same person.

The obvious connections are voices and jobs. Both Tom and Hitch sound very similar and have similar speech patterns and inflection, and both are cops.

However, I think that the events of the G5 movie take place during the events of Sonic 2. Based on what we know so far, Tom will be away for much of the film. So what is he doing whilst away?

Simple; he's in the pony world, helping another friend save another world.
