My fifth live-action inspiration.

Gosh, I can hardly believe I’ve come this far in terms of posting about inspirations. I found myself craving to make another post regarding this subject more than any other kind, really.

Anyway...

My fifth inspiration in regards to the Storm King comes from this guy below:

I realize that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales isn’t one of the most popular films or installments of the series, but, I would definitely like to point out that the film’s main antagonist, Captain Salazar, is actually what I’d like to call one of the series’ very best villains. Javier Bardem did an awesome portrayal of the character, even being able to make him an intimidating and serious force to be reckoned with.

I find this character to be an inspiration to me because I believe that, just like him, the Storm King was a ruthless and relentless killer. Salazar’s intentions were to kill every single pirate in the seven seas, because he believed pirates to be nothing but filthy vermin that needed to be exterminated, like cockroaches. Along with that, he has a certain ruthless personality and sense of humor.

To me, even though his time on the screen was short, the Storm King was just like Salazar. He believed that any being outside of his own species were like bugs that needed to be exterminated, and that concepts such as friendship and love were like a disease. And so, he would travel the land not just to take treasure, but to cause massacres everywhere he went.

When I think about it more, I’m also finding Salazar to be inspirational for characterizing the Storm King in another subject: a spirit. A ghost with wounded pride and a thirst for revenge because of getting defeated and humiliated by his foes. It’s actually even inspired me on when it comes to building a story about the Storm King making a comeback.

What do you guys think?
