Each month we will be spotlighting one pairing, or suggesting a writing prompt. As you may have seen on the main page, this month's area of focus is Sonata x Trixie.

Sonata Dusk is a follower. A Harmony Kendall. Adagio and Aria might feud over who should lead, but Sonata's place in the ensemble is never doubted. Too easily distracted to focus on coming up with dastardly plans of her own, she instead gets swept up by those more charismatic than her and with a clearer idea of what they're doing. And her role in the Dazzlings as a singer is... eeyup, following. There are mixes on Youtube of Under Our Spell with the vocal parts separated. Aria adds all sorts of elaborate harmonies that reinforce Adagio's melody. Sonata just doubles it, singing along in unison. It's all she knows how to do.

And Trixie, Great and Powerful as she is, is a girl who needs followers. For all the strength of Equestrian Trixie's bond with Starlight, most of their conflict comes from when both have ideas of which way to go. It's hard to imagine many of those disagreements happening if Starlight had shown less initiative and been more pliable.

So Sonata and Trixie could be a very successful match, each providing what the other needs. And we saw how Trixie fared when squaring off against all three sirens; maybe Sonata on her own is just the right amount of siren for Trixie to handle.

What would someone as predatory as Sonata the siren see in the girl they so easily manipulated during the Battle of the Bands? Why would Trixie fall for someone as lacking in ambition as Sonata seems to be? Here's a well-regarded sample of the ship, but we need you to write more! Maybe Trixie realises how much more elaborate her shows can be if she hires a Great and Powerful Assistant, and Sonata is the only person not too disparaging of Trixie to apply. Maybe Sonata feels guilty over how she and her sisters used Trixie, and so asks her for coffee to try to rebuild bridges. Maybe after the failure at the Battle of the Bands, both of them end up working on a rock farm together. Maybe Sonata is the only character in the entire franchise dumb enough to believe stage magic is real, and is so entranced by Trixie's stage show that she starts the Trixie Fanclub.

If this is a ship you like the sound of, this thread is probably a good place to discuss it. I joined this group not just to see all the unusual siren ships in one place, but to encourage others to write more of them, so if you're thinking of writing a Sonata x Trixie story or have one in the works already, by all means let us know in the thread below. Or just discuss the ship: what you like about it and why, what problems you've encountered with it before, what scenarios you can envision for the two of them. Just talking about it like that can inspire others with new story ideas, some of which might get written down, at which point we all benefit

I'm totally making Sonata Trixie's Great and Powerful Babysitter. XD

Nah, just kidding, making them put up a magic show together sounds just good enough.

Good luck with your stories, everyone!

7490999 I imagine Adagio and Aria would argue it's Sonata who needs the babysitter...
