How about a game? One commenter picks a character tag from our list of non-graduated tags, and the following commenter gives a brief (humorous, serious, random, dark, whatever they wish) description of said character. Then they pick a character tag, and the commenter after them gives a description of said character, et cetera. The aim is to encourage some degree of thinking about such tags for, say, a short illustrative scene, for an intellectual exercise, or for giggles.

For example:

User 1: "Mane-iac"

User 2: "A former gangster who specialized in smuggling banned cosmetic products into the city for the black market, Mane-iac was deranged even before her accident. Bullied at school for her fits of uncontrollable laughter, she became obsessed with gaining power over her bullies, initially by joining the playground network of troublemakers as a successful thief.

"She did 'jobs' in exchange for getting fellow gang members to get back at her own personal bullies. However, she was vain, childish, and prone to dismissing others' talents, which made the gangs uncomfortable or even fearful around her. Fuelled by ambition, she ended up running the network after tricking or intimidating the fellow gang members into attacking each other. All she had to do after that was apply her skills there to life in the big city of Maretropolis.

OK, I'll start. Let's pick... Timberwolves, to make it interesting.

"Forest sprites inhabiting fallen bark from trees, Timberwolves are the proxy servants of Gaia Everfree, the living consciousness of the Everfree Forest. When not following her direct will they typically follow the same mannerism and pack mentality of normal wolves. The alpha of the pack is always possessed by the sprite named Spruce.

Territorial and belligerent, they are hostile to anyone who enters the forest but rarely ventures beyond it themselves. That said if intruders show respect for the forest they may simply watch from outside sight and let them roam free."

"The last known ruler of the Crystal Empire before the dark days of King Sombra's reign, Amore will be remembered fondly whether she deserved it or not. The Crystal Empire was a prosperous, shining land under her rule, where an orphan found on a doorstep could aspire to all the same glory and fame as the child of a count. However, in years to come historians will reflect on Amore as an incompetent ruler who was spared the more usual consequences of poor management by the age of peace into which she was mercifully born.

Nowhere is this more clear than in the example of how she received the young Sombra, who she attempted to convert to the side of good by allowing him to suffer through the Crystal Faire every year and never telling him anything about his nature, just kind of... I don't know, hoping he wouldn't turn on her when she revealed that she had always known? Like, at the very least, she could have moved him to a room where he could see the Crystal Faire from his bed.

Anyway, she got turned to crystal and blasted into a million pieces, ushering in a dark age of such strife and horror that she was remembered as the greatest princess ever by comparison. Never speak ill of the dead, after all."

"Nagatha Harshwhinny, the epitome of rags to riches and the risks therein. Born to a low-class Fillydelphia family, she was soon discovered to have a photographic memory and an exacting eye for detail. It wasn't until she organized her local classmates and led them to victory in competition that she earned her cutie mark; however, once she did, she realized her purpose was not to find winners but to craft them, herself included.

Nagatha has worked her way through the bureaucracy of Manehattan, Canterlot, and Las Pegasus, proving her care and attention time and again. She has also, unfortunately, seen the worst of the equine race, driving her to remain cool and calculating even as she seeks to unearth the best. Hers is a heart of gold... and like all precious things, it is guarded behind a mind of steel and a will of iron."
