I need some advice about something. I have been a Furry since I was 14, and grew up with parents that consider them to be people who have a mental illness and should have no rights because "They believe themselves to be animals, so they should be treated like them". How should I tell them without them cutting me out of the family? And before you ask, yes I have tried to explain to them the truths about Furries, but all they focus on are the ones who dress up and sleep together, along with all the negative stereotypes we have associated with us.
