Premise:
Over a thousand years ago, a young Princess Luna found an injured black dragon by the name of Cynder, while uneasy around her at first she used her magic to nurse her back to health. However much to Luna's surprise she found out that since she saved her life, Cynder now served her as a result.

Despite her protests, Cynder continued to serve Luna as her bodyguard, even when she became Nightmare Moon she continued to stand by her. As a reward for her loyalty, Nightmare Moon used her dark magic to transform Cynder into a fully-grown adult dragon to fight by her side.

After she was banished however, Cynder herself for not protecting her queen and eventually went into a self-imposed exile... little did she know however, that in a thousand years the keys to her old friends return well as securing their power over Equestria would come in the form of their own descendents;

Twilight Sparkle and Spike.
