It uses the same power, but organized very different. In summary, pony magic uses "feelings" such that belief in what kind of magic you're doing is an important part of the spell working. Human magic uses mathematics. An equation properly balanced will always result in the same outcome. But given advanced mathematics is beyond many people, humans with magic usually carried a "compiler," a technomagical near-AI that translated their desires for a spell into a casting.
Most humans are not capable of casting any spells without their compiler. It is just as vital for them as a unicorn's horn.
They cannot use the effortless unicorn levitation either.
