I'm looking for characters to put into my story, it's hard sci-fi like the expanse or the martian. Next to none of the show characters will be involved so I'm gonna need a lot of ocs. In particular I'm looking for characters with personalities and talents that would fit an interstellar adventure for the survival of all races. This is not limited to just ponies but most characters will be ponies, additionally I would like to keep unicorns to a minimum because I think having no unicorn magic will force the characters to be more creative (the in universe explanation is that crews avoid hiring unicorns because they have no earth pony resilience or pegasus magic and can't handle the g forces of realistic space travel as well).

Wears a light brown collar and a charcoal grey vest emblazoned with a sarsaparilla flower crossed over a wolfsbane flower below a crescent moon and a sideways-facing grey diamond dog's head. Her right shoulder is a black socket. It holds a grey, zoomable upper arm with a detachable, remote control black and yellow lower arm from the elbow down.
Backstory: Wolfsbane is a descendant of Clan Falbav, a family of bartenders and bodyguards. She used to work as a bouncer for a bar when she lost her right eye and right arm from a speciest unicorn doing something stupid. Her prosthetic eye and right arm were rebuilt by nerdy diamond dogs with a love of human pop culture.
Misc: The right arm fires 120-volt stun bolts. It can also be detached for maintenance or as a remote-controlled weapon. The right eye is a camera that assists with the remote control aspect of the remote-controlled arm. It can also fire lasers in short bursts. Finally, the right side of her head contains a chip capable of playing 100 years of human music dating from the 1920s to the 2020s.

Wolfsbane's "Sassy Parilla" nickname came from a past employer who really loved their root beer. She prefers her nickname over her birthname due to being the thirteenth Ren in her clan.

Midnight Blitzer is a blue pegasus with a dark blue spikey mane and emerald eyes. His cutie mark is a light blue fire with small electric sparks around it. He wears a greyish blue uniform.

Space travel, a marvelous thing, but one filled with dangerous mysteries. Not only could each world hold perils beyond imagination, large carnivorous plants or toxic gas, there's always the age old question that might end up being answered in the worst way: Are we alone?

Thus, in case the worst comes to pass in any mission and to allow the 'Planet Explorers' to continue their mission without worrying about looking around their back or carrying too much equipment, the Equestrian Space Force was created almost as soon as the first interstellar missions were carried out. These ponies were designed to bring the main strength force and to both protect and escort the explorers back to base if something dreadful occurred, as well as to pilot their ships and use the hidden weaponary on them if a hostile force decided to pay them 'hello'.

Midnight Blitzer is one of those ponies. Trained under a more militaristic side of the society, he was sent to military school at the age of 12 and soon after showing promising signs, was sent to the space school counterpart at the age of 16.
Graduating at the age of 18, Midnight was transferred to the reserve group for the Space Force as he still required training, but with interstellar operations become more and more frequent, he got the wish and was sent along with the new research team at the age of 19.

For so long pegasi always felt it unfair that just because unicorns had a more profound connection to magic with their horns to create spells, that the once most powerful militaristic tribe back in the Three Tribe Era had been considered inferior post reunification with unicorns being the nobility. Now all that they feel is pride knowing that they, along with their earth pony brothers, can cruise the stars and claim much of the glory while their unicorn counterpart could only grumble with their bits, bound by their planet. The pegasi were back in the place they should've been since the reunification!

Of course, this meant that on occasion, pegasi would proclaim their superiority towards their earth counterparts. Earth reminded them of prison, from being stuck in the unicorn controlled cycle and having the 'Earth' ponies alongside them was a thorn to many. They required cables to prevent them from escaping into space, while pegasi did not need such ground hooks with their majestic wings!

Midnight Blitzer shares some of these connections to his race, being proud of being not only a pegasus but a Space Force Member, yet he sees Earth Ponies as equal unlike some of his fellow members. He knows when to be serious and when to have some fun, constantly energetic during the latter phase while being the most efficient in the first. He does not despise unicorns unless they try to use their 'noble' status, then he would step in and call in the pegasi superiority in space, but only because he knew the unicorn would never shut up. He looks up to the ancient figures of Pinkie and Rainbow, calling in the Elements they represented, Laughter and Loyalty. He always tried to make grim situations bright and bring fun whenever he can, and whenever one is beign left behind, he'll return to save them at all cost, even if it meant risking his own life.

He shall make his people proud of him, both in life and death!

Midnight isn't racist (he goes on the 'treat everyone how you want them to treat you' policy) and the whole political landscape is to add a bit realism and also connect to two points that exist in MLP, The Three Tribes Era (every tribe hated each other and called themselves superior) and the Noble Class, like how Blueblood had a panic moment when he ate AJ's apple fritter and began to call it 'commoner/peasant food'. You can down tone anything you wish. Heck, depending on how your write it, it might not even appear, but it'd be in the background.

Because the unicorns would be absolutely livid that they, the Noble Class, aren't part of the space exploration and rather it's pegasi and earth ponies. Heck, most of them have stars or space things as cutie marks, so it'd be a real kick in the behind that they're not up there and rather it's the pegasi and earth ponies.
