Native to a planet called Pern, the Weyr are surprisingly similar to the dragons of Equis, though with a few differences.

Weyr are a eusocial race with a rigid caste system:

Green- sterile female

Blue- sterile male

Brown- fertile male

Brass- fertile male

Bronze- fertile male

Gold- Queen

Despite being members of the galactic community, they have no true "civilization" to speak of, with communities being built around the Queen. Brown, Brass and Bronze Weyrs are migratory, travelling around to keep genetic diversity.

Like true dragons, they can breathe fire. However, they are also telepathic, and interestingly possess a form of short-range teleportation.

Albinos are uncommon, but are usually fertile, as well as the smallest variant.
