You know in fiction where the main character has immortality and keeps such a gift a secret? Well, my question is, why? Why keep someone who probably has hundreds, if not thousands of years of historical knowledge hidden? I mean, I can understand not wanting attention and going on numerous talk shows and interviews, but after a while, people will just except it.

I’m just wondering why keeping immortality a secret a very common trope.

Probably because many would never stop asking about it if those who had it were open about it. And then there are those who would demand immortality be given to all.

And that is a recipe for disaster.
