What if there was a story that featured around a human psychologist who happened to end up in Equestria a while before Nightmare Moon shows up. After establishing himself he starts up his own business where he helps ponies with their problems, and he's extremely good at it. Then later when Nightmare Moon comes around he goes along with them.

When everypony goes outside to leave Twilight with the elements he instead heads towards the tower Nightmare Moon is in, and confronts her. He starts to talk to her and the next thing you know Twilight and friends are walking in on a blubbering NMM with him comforting her, and she decides to stop being evil.

And so this becomes a recurring theme, basically any problem that could be solved by talking, he fixes it and is hailed as a hero while at the same time gathering up a very strange circle of friends, including but not limited to: Discord, Nightmare Moon, Tirek and more.

You're doing it wrong. They would hang him after the Psychologist tears into their society and reveals all kinds of abhorred flaws.

He will die a martyr for not submitting to a life of sperm production. Celestia will do some hardcore social engineering, far more than what she has already done. Luna will still be the attack dog as usual.
