In Equesteria we see almost all sorts of magical abilities. But I believe all of these magical abilities started from elemental magic (fire, water, air, earth) and over the time they have been forgotten. But...
The decendets of those who could wield such elements are able to wield it, they just need to realise it.

Though I believe another ancient magic will be SOUL MAGIC. Which allows the user to heal bones or fix coruption of the soul.
It's not elemental but it can fit.
