What is a 'background pony'?

3340825 A "BackGround" pony is a character in the show (MLP) when they are not directly referenced or have had any direct dialogue pointing towards them as underlying characters in the mane plot or story line.

Do you guys only accept stories with an all Background Pony mane cast. Or is interspersed okay?
