Hello my faithful viewers. I just decided to come up and expand on a few topics of the Shimmerverse and its history. The first being the term 'brownie points'.

As Equestrians generally know, the term is used to signify one has done a good deed or done their job well. It's a very complimentary term, especially amongst the earth ponies. It's not so much common with the unicorns and even fewer pegasi really use or know of it regularly. This is because the term was originally created by the earth pony sub-race before Equestria's first founding.

Back then, sweets and other such treats were especially rare. The earths had to feed not only themselves, but the pegasi and unicorns. Naturally, this often led to conflicts between them, with the earths trying to keep more to themselves for they were the ones who were breaking their backs for it. The only ones who could afford to keep any sweets, chocolates for instance, were the Earth councilors, the ones that held all of the power. Chocolate was thought to be the right of those elected to such power as it was a rare delicacy.

This changed with the young Puddinghead. Raised by the previous chancellor, Puddinghead was a rather fond of sharing and detested the idea of keeping sweets and other pleasures away from the populace, even other tribes at points. {It should be noted that he still was a tribalist in a sense, but kept an open mind to most things. History didn't do him any favors, however, as many recreations of him paint him out to be an idiot tribalist. In the past couple of centuries, with the discovery of more records and even a magical recording of him, this image has been slowly changing.}

Growing up, he'd make a little system, giving out candies and other sweets to workers who did good jobs. It should be noted that Puddinghead's favorite treat was brownies, so a brownie became his sort of calling card of sorts. Ironic in the sense that he wasn't much a fan of pudding. {Well, at first. His mother broke him out of that as best she could with her own recipe, which is the stuff of legends~! How else was she able to tame a giant Platydon, a large land relative of the platypus.}

So growing up, he'd make it a habit of handing out brownies to his best workers. At the death of his father, his supply dwindled as did his family's power. However, the servants working for him still performed their best so for the next few years, he would give them 'points' as to say how many brownies he owed them.

Cue him quickly getting office. After this, the term caught on as the servants families spread little tales about it and some flocked to work for the king. During lean years, he'd give out points like he usually did promising said treats in return. The term passed down to generations, eventually just coming to be a general 'you did good' phrase.

This post u made gets brownie points

I like this. In ancient pre-Equestrian tribes, the rulers of the earth ponies looked like Henry the 8th, didn't they? I bet the fatter you were, the more attractive you were to mates, since that shows you had the status and prestige to get the most sweets.
