1) In case it wasn't clear, Attributes ARENT just to describe your character. They are how I plan to establish success and defeat, popularity and weaknesses. These aren't supposed to describe your character, they are facts about him.

2) These CANT be skill in making certain decisions. They can be skill, intelligence, mathematical/social aptitude etc. etc., but they can't be things like being skilled in deployment of ships, or good at choosing which companies to invest in. The decisions they make are literally ALL YOU, and thus do not factor in how good they are. (EX: you can say good at picking ivestments. You might say they are good at it, but then make them pick really bad investments.)

3) These should NOT be about the cause of traits. You can create backstory for the backstory, but your attributes are just that, attributes.

4) THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEEMS AND IS! If you seem intelligent, you will look better in intillectual arguments, but you dont gain as much of a bonus to management. Intelligent gains a bigger bonus to management, but their arguments are not as well recieved by the masses. at higher levels this balances out more, but if you have limited points it is suggested you put just a few in both. Players with many points to put into this should put a few points into charisma, likability and a whole lot into intelligence for a much greater effect.

5) Military skill stats. Military commanders may or may not have a whole other attribute set. I'm looking at different generic combat roleplay stat systems (mostly gurps)

6) Reputation does not mean liked, just known. The higher up you go the better known you are, but lower level players can and should boost this. Reputation is higher after well publicised events relating to you, and lower for those who have not done much. When you have high reputation, you are well known, this makes all actions you commit easier to detect and easier to make popular. On the other hand a high reputation puts you at higher risk for attacks against your popularity. If someone seriously damages your reputation you should become less active until it goes down, or play it off (like a clinton!).

7) BE SPECIFIC. I get that your character is secretive, but is this a trust issue or you being a smart plotter and string puller (in which case you are a good sweeper (hiding stuff)). Is your character, horrifically scarred, or is it a battle trophy? If your character's scar is pretty cool, but sorta off putting MAKE THOSE SEPERATE TRAITS, BUT make sure to SAY that those traits are both scar related. slightly ugly scars are mostly a negative, but gain a bonus with military crowds.

8) it has to be attributes not their effects. A handsome/beautiful, charming, and smart player is popular. His attributes are handsome/beautiful, charming, smart, NOT popular.

10) Change, players now have 10! points to give for attributes, BUT they must wisely choose how many points to give to each one. If you put to many in one, you are weak in other, but if you spread out to much a focused attribute set can beat you in any one area. Choose how to allocate or spread based on what your character is like. Negative traits will only give more points if they are OBVIOUSLY negative. (see next one)

10.5) if you have your points too spread out you automatically gain the forgetable trait. It makes you lose reputation much faster than other players will (ponies forget your bad and good decisions or attributes faster). If you have too many traits in any one attribute, you become memorable (automatically gain reputation much faster, but people won't forget your mistakes as quickly

TL;DR Version.
If they are physical appearance or backstory related attributes, state the immediate cause and effect (ugly scar, or cool scar? Known for bravery in battle, Known for cowardice). They can't be decision making (you make the decisions). They must be SPECIFIC! (Being secretive isn't good enough, is he good at hiding things, or does he have trust issues?). Being likeable, good looking, and smart are attributes, being popular isn't. LASTLY! you get ten points, put as many in each attribute as you think you need it, not too many (or you will be defeated in other areas) and not too few (or specialized players beat you one area) unless you want to.

FOR MORE POWERFUL BUT LESS FLEXIBLE ATTRIBUTES, BE MORE DETAILED! The better you explain, describe, and or illustrate your attribute in your character's description, the BIGGER its effects, but it won't be as widely effective. You can also evolve or reveal more about your trait in rp, but it will only change if you pm me links to where this happened, and state what the new description would be.
