Boardor.

the leading country in technology, having developed the computers common in pony homes around the world, also working in black hole sciences, teleportation, cloning, advanced AIs, and robotics.

Now it is a hellhole embroiled in civil war, where the landscape is ruined by the fighting factions

surprisingly, the local wildlife has adapted quite well to the situation, taking over the ruined cities as new forests.











Of course, none have adapted more readily than the country's (unofficial) national animal, the Headcrab

APERTURE SCIENCE

the out-of commission faction, Aperture Science was responsible for the various robotic innovations and black hole technology found in Boardor.

Now the facility is abandoned. those who go there never come back, though a small flash did occur a few years ago.

BLACK MESA

Black Mesa undertakes research in various fields from standard scientific research to radiation, rocketry, theoretical physics, lasers, experimental propulsion, hydraulics, robotics, hydroelectricity, genetics, zoology, applied mathematics and a very wide spectrum of research into chemistry and all manner of physics research. The research is mostly conducted in the Black Mesa Research Facility and includes both pure research and applied science.

In addition to this legitimate research, several secret projects are also carried out at Black Mesa, which are deliberately left vague. A large amount of classified research is carried out, including the development of high-tech weapons and defense systems.

BUILDER'S LEAGUE UNITED

BLU (Builders League United), a subsidiary of TF Industries, allegedly specializes in "construction operations". In reality, from behind a myriad of sub-fronts, it secretly controls half of Stirrope's governments, led by founder and CEO Blutarch Colt. Beneath the convincing exteriors of their bases of operation can be found computer racks, satellites, rockets, and missile installations.

BLU favors a more industrial style of architecture than RED. BLU's dress code, however, is rather liberal, requiring that employees adopt a blue color scheme for easy identification. This could also be for identification by Sentry Guns.

RELIABLE EXCAVATION DEMOLITION

RED (Reliable Excavation Demolition), a subsidiary of TF Industries, allegedly specializes in "demolition operations". In reality, from behind a myriad of sub-fronts, it secretly controls half of Stirrope's governments. RED is led by founder and CEO Redmond Colt. Beneath the convincing exterior of their bases of operations can be found computer racks, satellites, rockets, and missile installations.

RED favors a more rustic style of architecture than BLU. RED's dress code, however, is rather liberal, requiring that employees adopt a red motif for easy identification. This could also be for identification by Sentry Guns.

both RED and BLU administer their half of the continent with a multi-disciplined army of paper pushers. For any problem lacking an obvious bureaucratic solution, mercenaries are contracted to address the situation through a massive application of force. Conflicts between the two companies began as land disputes between their leaders, and have continued for about a century to the present day.

the ponies of Boardor either live underground or behind walls. anything goes as money: Bullets, Bottlecaps, and strangely enough, Hats.

the most well-paying (actual money AND hats!) jobs take the form of working as one of RED or BLU's nine mercenary classes, outlined by the "Alpha Squad" of each team, identical clones except for color.

However, this is a life-time job in some cases, thanks to the Respawn, a device that brings anyone who dies back to life through instantaneous teleportation/cloning.

Sniper

"Snipin's a good job, mate! It's challengin' work, outta doors. I guarantee you'll not go hungry. 'Cause at the end of the day, long as there's two individuals left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead."- BLU Alpha Squad Sniper

The Sniper's main role on the battlefield is to pick off important enemy targets from afar using their Sniper Rifle and its ability to instantly kill a target with a headshot. They are effective at long range, but weaken with proximity, where they is forced to use their Submachine Gun or Kukri. As a result, the Sniper tends to perch on higher grounds or in hard-to-see places, where they can easily pin down enemies at chokepoints.

Spy

"This Spy has already breached our defenses... You've seen what he's done to our colleagues! And worst of all: He could be any one of us."- BLU Alpha Squad's Spy, talking about RED Alpha Squad's Spy

Spies rely on stealth and trickery to aid their team. Using a unique array of cloaking watches, they can render themselves invisible or even fake their own death, leaving unaware opponents off-guard. the spy's Disguise Kit lets them take on the form of any class on either team, allowing them to blend in while behind enemy lines before stabbing their unsuspecting "teammates" in the back. In fact, a swift backstab with any of the Spy's knives will kill any foe in a single hit - provided they aren't under the effects of any type of invulnerability or immense damage reduction.

In addition to being able to swiftly assassinate key enemies, the Spy possesses the ability to disable and destroy Engineer-constructed buildings with their Sapper. Once attached to an enemy building, the Sapper disables and slowly drains health from the building. However, a Sapper can be removed by an Engineer, or Pyro wielding the Homewrecker, Maul, or Neon Annihilator.

The Spy is able to enter an enemy teleporter and can use this to make their way to the enemy team, and blend in amongst them.

Engineer

"Hey look, buddy. I'm an engineer — that means I solve problems. Not problems like 'What is beauty?' because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems."- BLU Alpha Squad's Engineer

Engineers specialize in constructing and maintaining Buildings that provide support to their team, rather than fighting at the front lines. The Engineer's various gadgets include the Sentry Gun, an automated turret that fires at any enemy in range, the Dispenser, a device that restores the health and ammunition of nearby teammates, and Teleporters that quickly transport players from point A to point B.

Because the Engineer's ingenious devices are under constant threat from explosives and devious enemy Spies, a good Engineer must keep their gear under a watchful eye and under repair with their Wrench at all times. When the Engineer needs to get their hands dirty, a trio of generic yet capable weapons, along with the assistance of helpful hardware, make them more than capable of holding their own in a fight. If need be, the Engineer can even pick up and haul constructed buildings to redeploy them in more favorable locations.

Scout

"Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and brother, I hurt ponies"- BLU Alpha Squad's Scout

the scout the fastest mercenary on the battlefield. Their speed leaves slower opponents struggling to keep up and helps them navigate the terrain and dodge oncoming projectiles. Carrying a Scattergun, a Pistol, and a Bat, the Scout is ideal for aggressive fighting and flanking. The Scout is a good class for quick hit and run tactics for sapping away the enemies' health due to their ability to get in, do damage and dash away before even being noticed.

Demo

"One crossed wire, one wayward pinch of potassium chlorate, one errant twitch...and kablooie!"- BLU Alpha Squad Demo

A master of explosives, the Demo strategically deals indirect and mid-range combat and massive splash damage. Armed with a Grenade Launcher and Stickybomb Launcher, the Demo uses the knowledge of his surrounding environment for well-timed detonations that send enemies skyward, often in many pieces. Should anyone get past this explosive ordinance however, they will be shocked to learn the Demo is extremely proficient at melee combat, being one of the deadliest melee classes, with a variety of powerful melee unlocks in their arsenal.

The Demo excels at swift destruction; they can bounce grenades at creative angles to wreak havoc on enemy Sentry Gun emplacements while remaining safely out of sight. Stickybombs are a perfect tool for area denial, and are effective at keeping opponents away from any carts, control points, or Intelligence that they deems off-limits.

Heavy Weapons Specialist

"Some people think they can outsmart me. Maybe, *sniff* maybe. I have yet to meet one that can outsmart bullet."- BLU Alpha Squad Heavy

The Heavy's Minigun can inflict heavy damage at a high rate of fire, allowing them to mow down opposing "babies, cowards and teeny-stallions" in seconds. The Heavy's movement speed is their main weakness. Revving up or firing their Minigun brings an already unimpressive speed down to a snail's pace, making them very easy targets for Snipers and Spies. the Heavy's slow speed makes them more dependent on support from Medics and Engineers to keep them in the fight.

Soldier

"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight!"- BLU Alpha Squad Soldier

Tough and well-armed, soldiers are versatile, capable of both offense and defense.

The Alpha Squad Soldiers are well known for their spectacular rocket jump. In defiance of all good sense and judgment, the Soldiers detonate a rocket at their hooves and launch themself skyward at the cost of some health. This ability allows the Soldier to pop up in unexpected places.

Medic

"... Let's go practice medicine."- BLU Alpha Squad Medic

When the Medic focuses their Medi Gun (or unique healing spell) on a teammate, they will regain health. Teammates who are already at full health will have their health buffed beyond the normal limit, up to 150% of their base health capacity. Teammates who have not taken damage recently will be healed more rapidly, encouraging smart withdrawals when injured.

"I AM BULLETPROOF!"

When healing, the Medic will gradually fill a unique ÜberCharge bar, faster if healing injured teammates. When the ÜberCharge bar is fully charged, the Medic's healing gun will begin to crackle with small jolts of electricity, indicating that they can now deploy a unique charge to benefit the patient and themselves for eight seconds. A charge from the Medi Gun (or spell) offers temporary invulnerability, from the Kritzkrieg guaranteed critical hits for patients, from the Quick-Fix rapid healing and immunity to knock back, and from the Vaccinator enhanced damage resistance.

Pyro

“Whoops! Sorry about that. It's difficult to focus when I'm not in a battle.”- BLU Alpha Squad Pyro

The Pyro specializes in fighting enemies at close range with the use of either a flamethrower or Pyromancy. Although categorized as an offensive class, the Pyro brings a few sources of utility to the battlefield. The Pyro’s compression blast, for example, can deflect enemy projectiles, extinguish burning teammates, and forcibly reposition any enemy, including one under the effects of an invincibility-granting ÜberCharge.
