But First...

That's right! This is this group's 100th post!:pinkiehappy:

the Hydras are the most interesting members of the pseudodragon family, and among the only animals where polycephaly is common.

To answer the obvious, YES, THEY GROW TWO NEW HEADS FOR EVERY ONE CUT OFF. BUT the excess heads fall off and die after 3 hours. so a normal hydra (4 heads) who has 12 heads will have 4 heads again after 3 hours

AMPHIBIOUS HYDRAS

Hydra

Hydras are some of the largest of all pseudodragons, standing at a maximum height of nearly 30 feet. These creatures are coated in slimy, orange-ish brown scales with red fins on their heads, pointed chins, green eyes, two thick reptilian legs, and spiked dragon-like tails. The presence of these creatures are often signaled by a unique foul-smelling odor. Each of their four heads has their own personality, and it is not uncommon to see a Hydra arguing with itself over food (even though all four throats lead to the same stomach).

These creatures are solitary, actively aggressive creatures that will leap at the chance to consume defenseless members of sentient races, ponies being especially delectable to their palates. However, if they find their prey to be too difficult to catch, they will abandon the chase to find easier prey such as catfish, giant rats, and filth birds.

Con artists all across the World are known to sell "Hydra Blood Elixer" to gullible travels in the open market, claiming that the substance is a cure-all miracle drug that will improve health and stamina, lower blood pressure, increase intelligence and strength, and even extend one's lifespan by several decades. While many individuals will vouch for the potion's benefits, clinical testing suggests that the results of the so-called cure-all are nowhere near as dramatic as it's advertised to be.

Lotan

an amphibious seaside hydra native to the coasts of Camelu, Helios, and Saddle Arabia, the lotan is not large (twice the size of an alicorn), but, unusually for a hydra, can breathe fire.

They mostly stick to the coast and shallow waters, as larger predators such as Krakens, Lusca, Cetus, and Scylla wait.

T'ao T'ieh

a twelve-foot Manechurian water hydra with only two heads, the t'ao t'ieh grubs along the bottom of rivers, searching for food with its mouth barbels

SEA HYDRAS

Scylla

averaging at 40 feet, the Scylla is a sea-dwelling 6-headed hydra species that lives by standing on rocky outcroppings near oceanic trenches, near treacherous reefs, and near seaside cliffs... all places it can easily ambush prey. They are more awkward on land than a normal hydra, but are also better swimmers.

Turso

the turso or iku-turso is a species of marine hydra found in the waters around the Northern continent of Mustiik, particularly around Tarandoland. they are highly poisonous, and secrete a yellow slime which forms a cloud around them when they swim.

at 45-50 feet long, they are also the largest hydra species

LAND HYDRAS

Snallygaster Hydra

the Snallygaster Hydra (arctic hydra or Cyclops hydra) is an ambush predator and among the most unusual of hydras, heavily affected by magical evolution. Snallygaster Hydras roam the far north and catch prey with their mouth-tentacles. when attacking, their frills flash deep red.

Gorynch

a three-headed mountain hydra native to Stalliongrad, the gorynch is the smallest of hydras (Not counting male duohydra species) at only five feet long, but also the fastest.

Orochi

an 8 headed burrowing hydra native to Neighpon, the 20-foot orochi relies on constriction and a poisonous bite to subdue its prey.

Fendrak

a mountain hydra found throughout the world, the fendrak is the most poisonous and aggressive hydra species, and is capable of spitting its poison.

DUOHYDRAS

Duohydras are a species of two-headed pseudodragons who display extreme sexual dimorphism. the females average out at about 8 feet, while the males range from six to three feet depending on the species

Common

the Common Duohydra's females are dull brown, with eight spikes on their back. the yellow males have a bright red stomach, inflatable throat sacs, and a frill on their tail.

a male common duohydra inflates his throat sacs and raises his tail frill while standing erect, wiggling his front legs and showing off his bright red stomach to a female. his courting circle is made out of various materials.

Forest

with this species, the females are armored, ground dwelling herbivores, while the males are arboreal, three-foot-long poison-secreting carnivores.

Oceanic

in this species, the females are large oceanic creatures, while the males are flyers who average at four feet from nose(s) to tail tip.

GROOTSLANG.

the oddball of the hydra family, The Grootslang (aka: Iriz Ima) is a massive, elephant-like, ONE-HEADED reptilian monster that lives in water-filled caverns and is well-known for its aggressive behavior. This creature has been rarely seen and is a native of the jungles of Zebrica.

In terms of size and general body shape, the Grootslang resembles a hairless, earless green-skinned mammoth. However, this creature is actually a highly developed breed of reptile, as it is covered in scaly skin and feeds exclusively on meat. The Grootslang has two tusks, a prehensile trunk, four thick legs with four-clawed feet, and a long, crocodile-like tail.

The Grootslang, in addition to its many sharp points and powerful bulk, has the ability to elastically extend its own body (mainly the neck, trunk, tail, and a bit of the torso). Using this unusual ability, the Grootslang can stretch out its normally compact body to a maximum length of forty feet. Because most see this creature attacking in its "stretched out" form, some books describe the Grootslang as a gigantic snake with the head of an elephant.

It contains the hydra's signature "two for every one" trick.
