I'm working on a one-shot entitled "Alicorn Of War" that's set at Canterot Castle. It's basically a battle of wit and emotion between an enraged alicorn Sunset and a regretful Celestia. Luna is still on the moon, otherwise, this wouldn't work (she's just released later in this time line, Twilight fought a different villain, and it all aligns with canon mostly, just with a more conquering Equestria).

To be short, it's mildly violent and Celestia dies in a Kill Bill manner--Sunset doesn't necessarily want to, but she knows she must. Oh, and they have a mother-daughter dynamic.

If the title was giving you God Of War vibes, you're not wrong; Sunset has a pair of blades sealed to her that work in tune with her fiery magic.

Any advice on how to write out this length battle, or be smart about it? I've a basic base draft I am fleshing out.

Well, I specialise in writing violent scenes. My advice is: Use short sentences and use lots of exclamatories. Also, with the antagonist, lots of sneering and taunting to further antagonise the protagonist.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Though, i won't necessarily need taunting, as neither side is in the right.

I sat down and poured out the opening paragraphs and dialogue, and I'm already at 1 5k.

This alicorn-alicorn battle is going to be much longer that I conceived.... time to write it all out!
