According to TV Tropes, it's implied that Chrysalis knowingly kept her subjects in a state of constant starvation so as to control them with promises of food. However, I've seen From Where and Back Again, and I can't recall any such implications happening. Would somebody care to tell me where and when those implications came up?

6341374 The implication is from her reaction to Starlight telling Thorax to 'share his love' and how it seems like she knows here that would be going. It's not clear, and could just be her rejecting the idea on principal. But it is just odd enough that it it could be an 'OH SHIT!" reaction of her trying to stop something she knew would go bad for her. Plus, given her massive control freak tendencies, you can totally see her doing something like that and even deluding herself into truly believing it's better for them.
