Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria
there lived a young mare named Shoeshine.
Shoeshine was a special mare. She loved to help other
ponies be happy. She correctly believed that the secret
to happiness is physical comfort and carnal satisfaction
in high dosage. So she developed several ways to live
more comfortably: a sturdier roof? She built it! A
warmer scarf? She knitted it! Everypony she helped
loved Shoeshine.

One day, a big storm left lots of hard ice balls on the
ground. All the ponies were sad because it hurt their
hooves to walk around. Shoeshine decided to invent some
cool U-shaped things to nail into the bottom of their
hooves. Though the process was horrifically painful,
it helped the ponies walk around on the ice; and all
kinds of regularly uncomfortable terrain!

Shoeshine was a hero! Her invention helped ponies
travel to new lands and become more globally influential
and industrious, so more material happiness was more
widely accessible. In her honor; the ponies called the
new U-shaped thingies "shoes", because Shoeshine takes
toooooo long to say.
