I'm about 3/4 or so done writing a story that I was working on and off (mostly off) since May.

But a friend of mine gave me an idea(that I like) that kind of fits in with the original idea, but would require a rewrite of the story. So I would basically be starting over.

Since I was working on the original for so long, I'm reluctant to switch it up at this point. But it could take it in a different direction.

Any thoughts? I can provide details if requested.

6621690 Finish this one. Start anew fresh from scratch.

If you don't do it like this, you risk getting stuck in an infinite loop of endless rewrites without getting to publish anything ever. You don't want that.

6621690 If you're 3/4 done with your story, why not save your friend's idea to use as a sequel or spin-off to the original? I've done that a few times myself.
