Please read ‘The Shattered Empire’, ‘Equestria’, and ‘The Crystal Empire’ in the revised Unit Reference Guide.
You, Gaius Marcus Cornelius, looked over the skyline of the burning and crumbled city before you. This city was a very strategic choice: a major river emptied into the ocean, and its source was the mountain that Canterlot itself sat upon. Take this city, and there is a nice, easy wedge into the heart of Equestria and your ancestors’ homeland.

It had been a tough fight. These new ponies, these “Crystal Ponies” were devious. When the forward elements had marched into the city, they were met with no resistance from the Equestrian Army. But suddenly reinforcements in glittering crystalline flesh cut a deep line behind the ranks, cutting them off. Various units were now stranded in the city, surrounded and cut off, hiding in apartment buildings, taking cover from enemy slingers. The fighting had been fierce and bloody. The fight may be long and drawn out, but there will be no shortage of spare equipment and ammunition; the bodies of the fallen litter the ground around you.

Your cohort had taken losses during the landing yesterday, leaving you with roughly the numbers of five centuries. A cohort of Urbana had nearly been wiped out, but they joined and swelled your ranks, making you full strength again. You have one Urbana centuy and five Rifle centuries under your command. It would be a tough fight. In these close-quarters battles, your riflemen were at a disadvantage. Your Urbana were frothing at the mouth, ready to tear into the enemy, but you had eighty men. Survivors of the previous force were scattered, holding out, or imprisoned among various buildings. It would be very beneficial if you were able to free them. Unfortunately, they were all Riflemen, so you must preserve your Urbana as much as possible.

Your objective is the remaining pony command, a Princess Twilight Sparkle, guarded by six squads of Royal Guard Unicorns and a squad of Solar Knights.

This is the map your Velixarius Auxilia scouts had drawn for you:

-The dark blue are Crystal Slingers. [Scout note: They do not have magic, and therefore no shields like those damn unicorn artillery and spearponies we faced earlier]
-The light blue are Crystal Knights. [Scout note: Tough whoresons. They may be a match for our Urbana. Might want to thin them or shake them up a bit first.]
-The gold is the Royal Guard Unicorns. [Scout note: They didn’t seem to display anything special, and seem just like our own Riflemen. Direct fire, accurate, precise]
-The gray-blue circle is the target and squad of Solar Knights. [Scout note: I wouldn’t want to take these guys on hand-to-hand if I could avoid it. Perhaps if we had a Scion, ha!]
-The red with maroon border are friendly forces trapped in buildings. Some are trapped in and kept prisoners by Crystal Knights. [Scout note: We’re not going to leave them, are we? Leave no man behind? Although we can always come back for them when it’s all over, if that’s a necessity.]
-[Scout note: From what we’ve seen every building has one squad in it, except one. The huge one right by the objective seems to have twice the amount of Knights.]

Friendly forces:
-5 Rifleman Centuries
-1 Urbana Century
Enemy forces:
-Numerous Crystal Knight Squads
-Numerous Crystal Slinger Squads
-6 Royal Guard Unicorn Squads
-1 Solar Knight Squad

Special Rules:
Liberated Captives: Any compatible unit [Rifleman Century] is completely replenished numbers-wise when they free a group of PoWs. If rescued by incompatible unit [Urbana Contubernium], replenish a nearby compatible unit.

The war so far:

(OOC note: Would be very nice if you edited the map to show troop deployments and movement, lovely if you do it one stage at a time)
(OOC note: Two more planed playtests after this: changelings skirmishing with eastern tribes, and then crystal empire stopping northern advance)

So uh, now we're German all of a sudden?

Also, might be nice to continue the listing out of available units, just or ease of reference.

Advance south from above Pavlov's Haus. Take the building occupied by the slinger's first with the Urbanus, then repurpose their sling ammo as fragmentation grenades. One rifle century is to take these and head to the roof, throwing them like mortars on the other houses. Combined with the other men's rifle fire, this will bring down the houses around Pavlov's Haus quickly.

Link up with the men at Pavlov's and Sabalotnov's Haus's. From there, march south towards the Princess, using whatever grenades are left to clear out the Kraftwerk and Grudininmuhle. All units are to take up firing positions inside the Grudininmuhle, along with the troops saved from there and the Kraftwerk and fire upon the Princess's envoy. Once they are taken out, eliminate Twilight Sparkle post-haste. Mission Accomplished.

Advance south from above Pavlov's Haus. Take the building occupied by the slinger's first with the Urbanus,

You do so, taking no losses. The riflemen keep the head of the slingers down while your Urbana advance. The Urbana enter and kill all inside.

then re-purpose their sling ammo as fragmentation grenades. One rifle century is to take these and head to the roof, throwing them like mortars on the other houses.

Your men, untrained in slings, are forced to throw them. Although gravity is on your side, there is barely enough force to detonate some of them. The only ones with enough force able to activate were hitting the bottom floors of the houses. Thing is, most people take elevated positions if at all possible.

Combined with the other men's rifle fire, this will bring down the houses around Pavlov's Haus quickly.

It keeps them from leaving for fear of sharpshooting fire, but the houses are reinforced by squads from other houses. You better keep them contained or there may be a flash flood once your riflemen are distracted.

Link up with the men at Pavlov's and Sabalotnov's Haus's.

You do so, but take losses from the eastern slinger houses. The main Rifleman centuries arrive in the square, all 400 of them (you never specified how much, so I assume you mean all).

From there, march south towards the Princess, using whatever grenades are left to clear out the Kraftwerk and Grudininmuhle.

10 have been killed so far from the original 80 during the push across the square to Pavlov's Haus. Your Urbana are divided into two groups of 35. 10 are killed in each group while in combat with the Crystal Knights, leaving you with two groups of 25.

All units are to take up firing positions inside the Grudininmuhle, along with the troops saved from there and the Kraftwerk and fire upon the Princess's envoy.

The liberated PoWs swell your rifleman ranks to full strength. Even now, you have some left over. You can A) Keep them in reserve B) Form two contuberniums. They are knowledgeable of the city and might be adept scouts. C) Other

Once they are taken out, eliminate Twilight Sparkle post-haste. Mission Accomplished.

Twilight is halfway across the beach, bub. Gunfire is loud.

If you want, you can request an updated map of the situation.

(OOC note: you can't effectively have 80 dudes in a house and able to do something. I would guess 16 is the highest effective number)

Theme for the current situation. Make it or break it right here. Quick capture or your troops are crushed in a wave.

The extra men are to be formed into their own units. The Urbana and riflemen are to form up and then advance into the large building, with the riflemen providing covering fire followed by support inside. All other units are to push up to the Grudininmuhle and then advance as quickly as possible to the large building. I'm guessing it's tall enough for a sharpshooter to fire on the Princess, but if not, or if she's moved too far, all troops possible are to move from the large building to the Slinger house to its left and fire upon her from there. The rest are to hole up in the Large building or attack the other Slinger building to the left of the large building.

The extra men are to be formed into their own units.

They are overjoyed and overeager to join your ranks.

The Urbana and riflemen are to form up and then advance into the large building, with the riflemen providing covering fire followed by support inside.

As your Urbana storm the building, your riflemen provide covering fire, killing a small number of Knights. They also fire north across the street at Crystal Slingers, and prevent them from raining crystal bombs on your Urbana. In the struggle, a number of your Urbana are killed. Forty are left inside the building, and the two new rifle contuberniums join in.

All other units are to push up to the Grudininmuhle and then advance as quickly as possible to the large building.

Your men are fired upon by Crystal Slingers from the eastern buildings, who take inflict heavy casualties, as you have a few hundred troops packed into a small area. By the time the... kerfluffle is dealt with, you are left with three rifle centuries.

I'm guessing it's tall enough for a sharpshooter to fire on the Princess, but if not,

It's not.

or if she's moved too far,

She has.

all troops possible are to move from the large building to the Slinger house to its left and fire upon her from there.

Eager for blood and on the verge of victory, twenty of your Urbana storm the building, slaughtering the Slingers inside without breaking stride. Two contuberniums soon follow, and fire upon Twilight and her guard. Three Royal Guard squads are killed before Twilight is able to bolster the shield. However, in order to have a shield strong enough, she must stay stationary. She ends up underneath the far west Slinger house.

The rest are to hole up in the Large building or attack the other Slinger building to the left of the large building.

You jsut took this building so your troops only deploy as ordered.

A map of the situation is being worked on. Also, musical theme is the same.
