Name:
Genesis "Obsidian" or "Sid" Writ

Species/Race:
Unicorn, possibly part zebra due to his extremely faint fur patterns.

Appearance:

Possessing a tawny-brown fur with extremely faint green-brown patterns similar to a zebra's, Genesis Writ is not that noticeable in a crowd of pastel equines, or if he was noticed, it'd be for being... bland. His mane and tail possess an obsidian shade with a metal-silver hued streak running through both. Both his mane and tail are kept well organized, but sometimes get mussed in heavy action. He also possesses vibrant emerald-hued eyes that seem... vaguely hollow, like they're just not opening into his soul like those of others.
Currently, he possesses no cutie mark, but he hides this under the black cloak he practically always has on. Physically, he is lithe but not bulky and realtively agile, though not nearly up to the par of a career athlete, and lastly his horn is more pointed than a typical unicorn's.
His magic color is a vibrant, almost fiery, emerald green, and it seems that unlike most ponies, when he attempts to channel large ammounts of magic, the faint stripes across his body brighten up with the same color as his magic. This is different from most unicorns, whose magic is the color of their eyes, as instead of green eyes Genesis Writ's eyes are in fact a deep blue.

Talent, cutie mark:
Also unknown at this time, though he seems to be exceptionally creative, inventive, and studious. Loves to learn and share knowledge, and to help others if they accept him for who he is.

Skill(s) in magic:
Unknown, though he possesses exceptional telekinetic skill and magical endurance for a pony of his age due to constant use while on the road. He does have one spell he seems to have invented for practicality, and it appears to be a "bag of holding" that increases his carrying capacity. This isn't instantly obvious, however, as his saddlebags disguise the spell.

Items:
As a very well traveled pony, Genesis carries a lot with him. Saddlebags with the few books he owns (usually journals), as well as traveling supplies, and a dirtied black cloak to conceal his blank flank nature. These, combined with a set of two pair tarnished gold rings apparently from his unknown mother which he wears around his left forehoof and right hindhoof are the majority of his personal possessions.

History:
Growing up without a Cutie Mark ended up leaving Genesis with practically no friends, and plenty of mockers. As the only pony in his area to grow to be twenty with no cutie mark, he was practically a pariah, which was made worse by his introspective nature, high grades, and ostracization by his former classmates. His one friend was a female pegasus by the name of Nerine Truth, who stuck by him like family. Something needed when his father was always busy and his mother nowhere to be seen.
After suffering his entire teenage life as a social outcast and with little chance of any progress, as he'd run out of options to pursue, he finally got fed up and left the town to hopefully find some worth in himself in the larger world, free of his past ties. Nerine followed him despite his protests as well, and they set off to explore the world. This went well, and they had a good time travelling as friends, until they were caught in the wilderness, where they were examining ruins, by a bunch of pony slavers. Nerine was separated from Genesis, and he never saw her again... though he did find a bloodied feather hanging out of one of the crates of meat they sold to the Griffons.
He was rescued in an action by the royal guard, just before being vivsected by a sadistic slaver (whom he killed defending a guard), and taken to canterlot, but due to politics and his actions, he ended up conveniently forgotten again, and left to roam anew, now burdened and alone.
Maybe he can still find a place in life, and a place to call home.

Status:
No official job, as he is a wanderer, though he possesses a wide variety of skills gained during his roaming.

Attitude/Personality:
Strangely, Genesis is exceptionally polite for a grungy wanderer. Introverted and more than a little shy and wary of other ponies, he generally avoids starting conversations with those he does not know. That being said, he loves to help other ponies with their problems when he can, even if it's just listening.
Very polite and semi-chivalrous, something hammered into him by his father at a young age (hey, the old guy did something right at least) he is especially careful around mares, nervously so, but while he can be outright rude to some stallions, he would never intentionally offend a mare.
Generally analytically minded, he plans and thinks a lot, and loves to create. Destruction to him is a necessary evil, but wanton destruction is despicable, and a way to earn his contempt. He is also very closed to anyone that would judge him or mock him based upon his lack of a cutie mark, polite though he may be.
He loves to learn and to share information, as well as creation and innovation and all things literary. which is one of the few ways to gain real interest in conversations with him. However, there are a number of things he is exceptionally sensitive too, and can be driven berserk if they are mishandled. Slavery is one, mistreating mares is another. mocking blank flanks will generally make him ashamed, but he can lash out at that too, and don't EVER, EVER mock Nerine, or his faint stripage. He will bust you up so badly you'll need casts in places you didn't know you had places. This repressed aggresion stems from his introspective tendency to just bottle everything up in an attempt to maintain calm and in control, while also using the enigmatic side effect to keep people away.
With regards to his magic, he seems to avoid using anything beyond telekinesis as much as possible, though with his exceptional TK he doesn't need much else. It appears to almost be a fear or shame of it.

Miscellaneous Info:
He has a tendency to be enigmatic and mysterious, and to rhyme or speak poetically. This could be seen as evidence of a at least partial zebra heritage, or it could be that he simply developed this as a way to avoid getting picked on as a foal.
As Genesis Writ is well traveled, he will possess some knowledge of threats and strange things that most ponies will not, in a manner similar to Pinkie Pie and the parasprites in "Swarm of the Century."
Also as a result of his exposure to numerous cultures, Genesis Writ will be less picky about the things he eats, including meat. While he is admittedly very picky about his meats, he is not as terribly against it as others, and possibly as a result of this is more understanding of predators.
