So, I refuse to use OneDrive and I hope I don't need to explain why. But if you're using Windows they apparently have a stupid feature that they automatically install it and start using it on your computer whenever you get an operating system update.
So let me explain how absolutely STUPID this is. I didn't even realize this was a thing until in bit me in the ass.
Microsoft auto installed OneDrive back on my computer (after I removed it when I first got my pc) and didn't give me any notification about it. I thought that by default OneDrive starts whenever you turn on your pc and throws a notice in your face that it's ready to go. I remember it doing that. So I had no idea it was back on my computer for like a week. Possibly MUCH longer.
Until yesterday.
So something happened to my File Explorer. It was glitching out in a way that would take me a while to explain and isn't meaningful to my story, but in the process of trying to solve that issue I discovered OneDrive was back on my pc. So I immediately said "no" and uninstalled it again. Rolling my eyes, I then tried to get back to work, assuming things were good.
My work for the past week or so was gone. Missing from my hard drive.
Like... what?
I was so pissed off. The only thing I can think is OneDrive. But I don't use it! I never have. Did uninstalling it eat my files? It's NOT supposed to do that. The stuff that's missing is from around the time I last updated my OS about a week ago. It doubly doesn't make any sense because I don't even use microsoft doc files, I use txt files. I even save my work on the second drive. That is I have one drive for my operating system and software, and another drive for my files. I'm just baffled. It makes no sense. It's impossible! Yet, I open the drive where the files I've been working on have been for the past week and... they're not there. Also, another file that's older is missing some edits I've made in the past week. It's like the entire drive was rolled back a week.
For the last week I've been working hard. Writing an hour a day or so. Well, more like editing. I've been trying to finish up Under "Her" Skirt and ran into some trouble with the next two chapters. Not going to bore you with the details here, because I'm going to have to do all that work again. FUCK MICROSOFT!!
So, too angry to even look at the lost work these past 2 days, I... did something else. Enjoy that I guess.
Not had this issue, but I do kinda turn off "Everything" with new Windows updates. That damn weather/news widget glitched too many times and ate my RAM worse then Chrome. No more, and Cortana can bugger off too.

First, right-click anywhere on the taskbar. From the menu, select “News and Interests” and then click “Turn Off” from the submenu.
