608080 alright, as for the Alicorn Twilight it is possible since we have that cardboard cut-out and the start of the first episode of season 3, Celestia and Luna were eluding to something about Twilight.
it could be Alicorn Twilight or some else entirely... we still have 7 episodes left this season we won't know til episode 12 or 13 more likely and by then we will probably have more info available.
I could care less either way, I like Alicorn Twilight fics but I like them for Twilight's reactions

Wouldn't stop the fandom or the subsidiaries of the main company from mentioning Derpy here and there with toys (fanmade or not), comics (like the offical comic). It is most likely that they are to stop mentioning Derpy completely, at some point in time as due the lack of appearance so far in the show, to the response of those of the brony community that felt how they executed Derpy incorrectly and even be offended (to which it can be justifiable) as well as the opinion of those outside of the brony community (ie parents and such)

Sadly enough, it is possible for the concept of Twilight Sparkle to be an alicorn for there is the lack of information/background of what is an Alicorn in the show (like how they are separated from the ponies in the show besides visual differences). And how the fact that Twilight herself is the embodiment of "Magic" (no matter the intent that it she suppose to represent the value of friendship, not magical prowess), as to why she herself is the chosen representative of such element and not stronger beings who are more connected with the concept such as: Celestia, Luna, Discord, Chrysalis, and even Sombra to name the few.

Would Hasbro sheerly create another alicorn in the shape of Twilight Sparkle to sell more merchandise? Then you have to ask the overall designs of Princess Cadence with her sudden appearance as a "another Alicorn" that, apparently, two existing figures of similar designs weren't enough. And if you were to say that is its "another great design made by the Great Lauren Faust before she left", then may I remind you that, yes, she did the initial design of Cadence before she left the company. It was Hasbro who ultimately came up with the changes to have her as an alicorn when Lauren did left, and even her gave that remark when she found out about the last-minute changes on the princess in her account since she only wanted The Royal Princess to be the only Alicorn.

Whats makes you think that Hasbro won't do the same since ultimately, no matter how you slice the cake, its its their franchise to which it only exist to sell merchandise like how Transformers, Strawberry Shortcake, GI Joe, and other franchise of Hasbro, did before it.

Heck, the only show of Hasbro that exist not meant to sell merchandise would be the wonderful Dan Vs. with that angry little man from The Hub Network.
