Her name was Carina, and she was a monster. But maybe, in Another Life, she doesn't have to be.
I've made up my mind. I am going to write the sequel to Crystals & Chitin rather than add an epilogue.
I still don't have a definitive roadmap, but I am working on it. So far, I've written more words for the first chapter of this next story than I have for any recent chapter of C&C and I have only covered approximately half an hour of time in-fiction. A friend of mine, who I've recently discovered is a much more accomplished writer than myself, has looked over what I've written and provided some valuable feedback which has, in turn, lit a fire under me.
With that said, don't expect the first chapter to go up right away. Again, I may have a few thousand words on paper, but it is almost entirely worldbuilding, set dressing, and introducing our main character. Our heroine's name is DaCapo Aria, and I think you'll like her. Of course, it is a direct sequel to Crystals & Chitin, so don't be surprised if one or more of our existing cast makes an appearance. Some people have requested closure for certain characters, so I will see what I can do about that.
Aside from making this announcement to hold myself accountable, I am also in the market for an editor and/or prereader(s). I don't want to impose on my busy friend, he's in the process of writing his own novel at present, but his aid has proven to me that I could benefit from an extra pair of eyes, preferably ones with more writing experience than myself.
