Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today! This afternoon, I will be reviewing Nickelodeon's PAW Patrol: The Movie from 2021 per the request of Ocellus The Changeling . I want to come out and say that I have never seen this series or this show before in my life, but ever since Ocellus sent me a video of the film's trailer some time last year, I felt interested in taking a look at it soon. So just last night, I was able to see the movie for the first time. To tell you all the truth....I hated it. For real, I hate this piece of garbage so much. When it comes to the animation and the voice acting, they were well-accomplished; but when it comes to the characters and the story, the movie falls to the abyss.

This is about a rescue squad of talking puppies who are led by this pre-teen boy--also known as the PAW Patrol. After hearing of the disastrous plans of Mayor Humdinger, they go to Adventure City to stop him. However, things go south for Chase as he has a bad history with Adventure City since he was a puppy. Will he ever grow out of his despair and help those who are in need?

First of all, the main characters in this movie are one-note, irritating, and boring to sit through. Considering the fact I have never heard of or seen this show before, I can't remember half the names of these puppies. The film never took time to introduce each of them one by one, in terms of character, background, or personality. It focused so much on Chase because, apparently, he is the main character whom I'm supposed to care about. And this Ryder kid has no personality whatsoever. Where are his parents? Does he even live with his dogs all by himself? How old is that boy? He reminds me too much of Kion from The Lion Guard as they both are Gary Stus with little character and flaws.

The one thing I hate the most about this movie is that it felt the need to talk down on its audience about overcoming your fears and troublesome past. It unrealistically made Chase experience rapid character growth in overcoming his fear of acrophobia, tall buildings, and other city-related stuff. Do you honestly think its that easy or even realistic to just swallow your fears just like that? But here is the bigger issue! Chase didn't even want to go to Adventure City in the first place! Why couldn't Ryder just simply respect his wishes and allowed him to stay home while the others can go? Besides, every time Chase messed up, others instantly managed to rescue the citizens from danger...like it was nothing. So...what was the point of bringing him into the city if the others could do his job perfectly?

Another thing, during the flashback sequence when Ryder explained the reason why he rescued Chase in the middle of the street, he says that he did that because he saw the bravery in his heart and that he's "the bravest puppy I've ever known". No, moron, because he was about to be HIT BY A TRUCK. Where, during that moment, did he display bravery? That he froze in fear as he was about to die? Any rational person with a soul would save a puppy's life from harm. The writers tried so hard to create a moment between those two that it just fell apart. This is just bad writing.

Listen, folks, if you have bad memories of your old home and you don't want to go back there, then don't go back there! It's that simple! Don't let anybody in your family or friendship circle force you or pressure you to go back there for whatever reason they may have. It's YOUR choice, and they should respect that. PERIOD!

Furthermore, I despise the antagonist in this film. Mayor Humdinger is, by far, one of the most infuriating "villains" I have ever had the displeasure of watching on screen. I hate his obnoxious personality and his idiotic narcissism. I literally felt like strangling that brain-dead, horrendous excuse of a human and throwing him into a pit of lava. His henchmen were incredibly annoying too. I secretly hoped they would be killed off in the most painful way possible despite the fact this is a G-rated kids' movie. Why does Humdinger hate dogs with fury? Why does he hate museums and libraries so much? Does he have a tragic history with dogs? Was his wife mauled to death by one? Why does he always prefer sunny days? Does he not know the benefits of having rain fall from clouds? WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS GUY!! In fact, I would hardly call him a villain because that would imply he has actual brain cells, a clear villainous motive, and a solid background. Primus, this guy is unbearable. The only thing I like about him is that he's a cat person. At least he has good taste...

Lastly, is it really a norm for talking dogs to exist in this world? Because nobody seems to be freaked out by the fact that every dog can talk....except for cats for some reason.

*Sigh* I'm sorry, Ocellus, but this movie was a pain to sit through. Granted, this movie will only appeal to little kids (which is what they're obviously going for), but this is clearly not for me. This gets a 2/10! Still, thanks for recommending this movie to me, my little changeling. At least I now know to stay away from this franchise for good.

Peace!

Never watched Paw Patrol but for some reason kids are obsessed with it. One of my teachers who work with children told me that most of her patients loved this show, they even acted some scenes!

Well, I love the movie, even with the flaws in it, but I don't blame you for not liking it.

One thing I can say is that the animation and the voice cast deserves praise; even Kim Kardashian was okay as Delores the poodle.

Yes, I stated that at the beginning of this review. I agree.
