Help in Brainstorming Ideas for my Story · 1:57am Apr 20th, 2022
I already have the main idea down for the story but I need ideas for a plot.
Main Idea: The Story follows the life of A Boy Witch (Orion Thornwell) as he is determined to be an all powerful evil witch like every other in his family, he is then sent to Equestria to practice his magic on the pony inhabitants and eventually comes face to face with The Mane Six along with the Young Six as well.
I got this idea from the G1 movie, the part about the Witches, and I thought I would apply it to G4.
I also picture Orion eventually becoming good but then his family will disapprove and eventually come to attack, But I am not surer about the family attacking part.
I already have this one idea to add in another pony who teams up with Orion, this idea was based off of a villain roleplay.
I have had this idea for months but I need some ideas and a plot to get it going.
Note: I might edit this post from time to time.
Ok, off the top of my head, here's a few shallow ideas I thought maybe you'd enjoy playing around with:
- Orion teams up with another villain character from the show. But it has to be a villain who uses magic and is knowledgeable about it too. This is so that we get to see another villain reform beside Orion. Maybe Cozy Glow? Or Tirek?
- If it was King Sombra, I like the idea that he was using Hate magic to control Orion (like how he mind controls the Crystal Ponies). That way the Reason Orion becomes good, is because Orion never again wants to be controlled like that- and Orion's experience is so bad that Orion never wants to do that to anyone else. (So that's the reason why Orion turns good)
- Maybe it's not even "alive alive" but something like the tantabus or like the darkness that took over clover the clever. This path offers a nice duality feeling in the story. The 'evil side' of him doesn't need a voice, but the desperation to fight it, and get it off him would be like, a catalyst. It would make Orion realize what true evil is, and how dark and all consuming it is. And how it only destroys- Over and Over and Over again until nothing is left-
Lol, sorry.. I'm a sucker for giving people a traumatic reason to be good-
Extreme examples just work best against a whole family tradition of being bad.
I think the Family coming over to retaliate or "Fix" Orion is a good idea. Sounds like it'd be an epic ending epilogue for Book one of your fanfic!

I love your ideas, thank you for commenting on my post it means a lot. I don't think I would Pair Orion up with cozy glow, tirek would be a good option but idk how he would have escaped from Tartarus to find Orion. I was thinking of an original character with their own backstory against the other ponies.
I like the idea of something controlling Orion, which hurts him and leads him to being good. I once thought of a object that canned Orion's true feelings and left him with nothing but his anger and a hunger for vengeance.
Also thanks for helping me see that the whole family tradition of Evil Alone would be mediocre, but it would make a good element if it were working together with others, like the ones you gave me examples about. Thank you for your help.
If your wondering, no this is not meant to be a ripoff of the MLP generations comic, nor was I inspired by the comic in the first place. I just really like the concept of human magic users in Equestria and I was also inspired by the witches of the volcano of gloom from the G1 MLP movie.
A difference between the Comic and my story is that This story would take place around the Beginning of Season 8, when the school of friendship was being established and the villains are still around.

Also what exactly is the darkness that took over clover the clever? I had been searching the web and couldn't find any reference.
