Happy 10th Anniversary "The Legend of Korra" · 3:06pm Apr 14th, 2022
Original Aire Date: April 14th, 2012
(Opening Theme)
Say what you want about this show (as many on Twitter and Facebook will...loudly), but one can't deny that this was definitely a step in the progressive direction for the Avatar series! I remember sitting in my Nana's bedroom in 2012 watching this on her tv while waiting for her to get back from church so we could head to Bingo. I was so enthralled, I didn't even hear her come back til after the 2 episode premiere had been off for like 5 minutes--and she'd been home for 20 minutes at that point! Truly this show, while only airing for 2 years, outlasted it's predecessor in episode amounts (LoK had 52 episodes over 2 years, but FELT longer and ATlA had 61 episodes over 3 years, but felt SHORTER), seasons (LoK had 4 seasons and ATlA had 3) and content shifts (ATlA had one continuous story arc and 1 primary villain. LoK had a villain every season and continuous arcs that ultimately wrapped up into the main story of Korra's growth into the fully realized Avatar that she was meant to be). Ok I could go ON AND ON, but I've gotta beat it. To wrap it up, Happy anniversary to The Legend of Korra and also, on a more sad note, today 110 years ago, the R.M.S Titanic sank fully to the bottom of the ocean.
