I can tell you guys one thing. · 5:14pm Mar 18th, 2022
Unlike these giant game companies, I wouldn't shut down fan projects with bullshit Cease and Desist letters. If people like something, they should be allowed to experiment and create something new with it. Saying you're protecting IPs isn't a compelling argument when people already know you're the original owner.
YES!! Thank you, Mellow! This is the best thing I've read all day. I agree with this because one of my favorite game companies do this all the time.
Have I told you about the Big House?

Big house?

Yeah. It was a Super Smash Bros. tournament. They were playing Super Smash Bros. Melee online through an emulation program called Slippi and Nintendo gave them a cease and desist order for doing it.
I can agree with this because Nintendo does it all the time and they excuse this by saying, "it's our intellectual property you can't touch it!!!!!!!1!!!"

I remember that. That was so ridiculous. That wasn't even a threat to their IP protections.

I know, right? It's hilarious how Nintendo gets so overdramatic about someone holding a Smash Bros. Tournament. There was also another incident where they did the same thing to a group of fans when they were creating an HD remake of one of the Legend of Zelda games.

Think I remember that, too. They have a long history of anti-consumer practices. They pulled down a major ROM site a couple years back. They're legit killing the longevity of their own franchises by preventing people from sharing them.

It's sad, really. The only way they even had a good company and a fan base at all was through their fans and people who consume their product. I've been a fan of their games for awhile now, but just by reading about this cease and desist bullshit they pull everytime someone shows any genuine love and appreciation for their products, I'm starting to lose faith. We the fans show nothing but appreciation and love for the games that Nintendo has made during their years of being active and what do we get in return? A freaking paper with a long list of things why we shouldn't do this or that to show our appreciation.
And then they have the balls to say "we appreciate our fans and consumers!"
And now Sega is doing it too...
The same thing also happened with Princess Molestia...

What's crazy is, if they hadn't done that and someone posed a real threat to their brand, the fans would've rallied to their defense. By doing what they're doing, they're actively turning their consumer base against them.
