Almost done, yay! (or maybe not)

    Hi guys and gals.
The good news is that I finally finished the final chapter of After Destiny.
The bad news is that I absolutely hate its last scene. It gives no closure and pacing is weird.

    Subtle differences

Human fiction: "Curses, I didn't expect a thunderstorm right now."
Pony fiction: "Curses, I forgot there was a thunderstorm scheduled right now."

    Human fiction: "It's a 6 hour drive, or a 1 hour flight."
Pony fiction: "It's a 6 hour flight, or we can take Twilight-Train."

Human fiction: "The mailman lost my mail."
Pony fiction: "The dragon burnt my mail."

    [no title]

Ending WRR turned out to be a great decision. I'm now leaving my comments in the stories themselves, where I can actually interact with the authors and they become much more useful. It also helps me think about how I'm writing as well, and how I can invite comments to my own stories (well, the two of them), something I sorely miss. I'm inclined to believe my WRR is gone for good.

    I have over-estimated myself

Progress has been excruciatingly slow but fiercely steady. I'm getting like a dozen or two words in every day. I'm finding the time to write, even if it's not very much, and when I do, it's hard to concentrate and get momentum. I could call it writer's block, it probably qualifies many people's definition. I could actually cop out, polish my first three scenes and call it chapter 2 of 3. But I

The evolution of the relationship between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash was pretty great, very believable, I enjoyed it. People kept going on about killing fanon, but you know what? It didn't. It DID kill several stories about Scootaloo being adopted, but hey, none of these were widely accepted as "the" fanon (as far as I know), so whatever. It certainly didn't make a fic I collaborated with, Hearth's Warming Eve for Scootaloo, Alternate Universe, nor it'll happen with the sequel we're working on.

Now.

Let me talk about Princess Luna.

I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF IT.

It has been my understanding that every use of Luna as a character, including Luna Eclipsed has been dumb. I mean, yeah, the episode was fun, but the princess, as a character, evolved little. She was a just-out convict, and in that episode, she is a just-out convict. :P It has also always been kind of nebulous why she'd bother still being awake at night, because even though in this more modern society many ponies do enjoy the night and stuff, they're still day-ponies who live and work at day, and just happen to squeeze a little bit more of night in.

Guarding the dreams is a great role to have, if you ask me. I mean yeah, you'll se some ugly stuff, in more ways than one, but it would make a lot of sense in the context of the goddess diarchs, as in Celestia takes care of the 'outside' and Luna takes care of the 'inside' (and obviously they talk about it). I also went so far as to headcanon her as a Santa Claus of sorts, as in she'd visit several ponies' dreams each night using whichever criteria she has.

Dreaming and lucid dreaming is a pretty fascinating theme for me, actually. So excuse me while I go insane. :)
