Greetings, my wonderful jesters! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for tonight! This evening, I will be reviewing Disney’s 2012 animated film entitled Wreck-It Ralph! First of all, I have never seen this movie before. In fact, I didn’t even see the sequel as well since I was focused on more popular Disney movies such as The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. However, my curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to give both movies a watch online to see if they’re actually good or not. After seeing this movie for the first time last month, I found myself enjoying it! It was really awesome!

Words cannot express how both emotionally-invested and well-written this movie is. The storytelling is profound and well-thought-out, the plot was straightforward with little to no problems, and the character development was heartwarming.

I am quite impressed that those Disney screenwriters found a way to make video game characters both relatable and human as much as possible. This is about a bad guy video game character who has been fed up with the poor treatment he was getting from the self-righteous villagers who were friends with Fix-It Felix. Wreck-It Ralph wants to win something in order to receive the love and attention he craved for and be someone who matters.

Unlike Shia LeBeouf’s character Sam Wickwicky from the Transformers films, Ralph went through actual character development as he realized that it’s not about winning a medal in order to be a hero; it’s more about being someone who has to be selfless for the good of others, not always whining or thirsting for attention.

The other characters were also amazing in every step of the way. Vanellope was great, Felix was a bit hilarious, Calhoun was badass, and the minor characters from other video game franchises were nice to see on screen. The voice performances of Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman, John C. Reilly, and Jane Lynch were all excellent in their own way. But the second most interesting character was this guy:

Turbo was an amazing villain in this movie! Not only is he one of the most entertaining Disney villains in animated history but also one of the very few twist villains done right. Nowadays, twist villains are either forced, cringeworthy, or just downright badly written. But this guy is a huge exception because they actually left hints and established build-up for his reveal. This is how you write a brilliantly-done twist villain, modern Disney. What happened to that?

Additionally, King Candy was clearly antagonistic from the start which led to the hostility between him and Ralph. Thus, the hints and the way he provided conflict for our main characters opened the way for the twist to successfully deliver. Alan Tudyk was a fantastic choice to voice this guy. If it weren’t for this movie, Alan would have never become the John Ratzenberger of Disney. Isn’t that something?

The animation is splendid, the writing is great, the music soundtrack was pretty good, and the voice acting was top-notch.

This is why I gave the sequel a chance which will be reviewed next week. This is by far one of the best Disney movies I have ever watched, and I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. I give this a 10/10!

Peace!

First review of yours I'm seeing, and my goodness. I didn't think you could be so profound.
Wreck-It Ralph is my favorite movie, mainly because of how well it introduces and hints at the villain's true identity, writes its characters properly, and actually makes the Video Game theme seem like so much more.

though I think you're gonna be in a bit of a tizzy about this wonderful movie's sequel. Somehow a fanfic on fanfiction.net called 'Wreck-It Ralph 2' did a better sequel than the canon one about breaking the internet. It's a good read, I recommend it; look it up and you'll be impressed.

Man, I watched this movie in cinema when I was a king. The King Candy/ Turbo twist left me in shock, it was so incredible! There will never be a better Disney twist villain, now it´s just so predictable (from Big Hero 6 I guessed them all).

When I was a kid. I got my words mixed up :rainbowlaugh:

I agree with you on King Candy/Turbo. Not only is he one of my favorite villains, but he’s also the best of the twist villains Disney recently created. Most of the other twist villains that came after him often felt like the result of Disney trying to replicate on the success of the character but failing in the process, in large part because they aren’t given enough personality, development, or buildup to help them click. A prospect that’s also quite apparent with twist villains in many non-Disney animated works that came out a while ago.

Has to say this this movie is one of my favorite and the villain of this movie, King Candy/Turbo, is a villain done right. And the Plot twist of him begin Turbo is done well
