Hello, hello, hello, ladies and gentlemen!! Welcome all to my first movie review for 2022!! I hope you guys are having a great week so far as well keeping yourselves safe and warm! This evening, I have the honor of reviewing the best movie of 2021entitled: Spider-Man: No Way Home! As the last movie of Tom Holland’s trilogy, it carried quite an unpredictable, anticipated, and a highly epic end. Plus, it was full of twists and turns that amazed me to no end. Folks, this movie—for lack of a better term—was spectacular in every way. Just like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, it is a massive love letter to everyone like me who has been a fan of Spider-Man since childhood. However, this movie in question is full of nostalgia, fan-service, and awesome references to other Spider-Man movies that came before this.

Still, it wasn’t just the fan-service that made this movie a tremendous, financial success; it was also the storyline that accompanied them which made this its own movie without being too carried away. After all, this is still a movie that focuses on Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as he finally learns how to be Spider-Man and matures as one.

Now for those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet, this is gonna be full of spoilers. So please, leave this blog post immediately and watch the movie first.

First off, WOW!!!! This movie went all-out like never before! Now that everyone learned that Peter Parker is Spider-Man thanks to Mysterio and is framed for his murder, Parker’s life is now in ruins and must find a way to get things back to normal before it gets out of hand. Thus, he goes to Dr. Strange to ask him to cast a spell where everyone forgets that he’s Spider-Man...until he remembers that his close friends and Aunt May should still know his identity. Because Peter keeps messing up at the last minute, it caused Strange to fuck up the spell which resulted in summoning other beings from their own universes to their own.

This is where things get very epic. Doctor Octopus is back!! Green Goblin is back!! Electro is back!! Sandman and Lizard are back too!! Can you guys imagine the reaction of the original actors when they were given a chance to reprise their roles as the mentioned characters? First off, I was expecting to see Doc Ock and Electro in this, but I was NOT expecting Sandman and Lizard to be in this too! That caught me off guard. However, I was not surprised to see Goblin again because I got spoiled on that. Thankfully, that was the only spoiler I got.

The action scenes with these guys were breathtaking! The choreography was fantastic, and the dialogue between them was solid. Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans did not lose their touch when they were playing these villains. They were still as awesome as they were before.

One of the best scenes of the movie was the interaction between the Sinister...Five I guess? Anyway, the way these guys talked with each other was just so beautiful for me. The bonding, the dialogue, it was...it’s basically fan-fiction done right. I just wish there were more scenes of them talking together, not just with Tom Holland and his friends.

But what really made this movie a humongous success was bringing in the stars of the other movies....Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire!!!!! The way they were re-introduced through the portals was the biggest surprise for me. I did NOT expect to see them in this movie. So all this time, Andrew has been lying about not being in it for the sole purpose of not spoiling the movie...man, I was fooled really good. He’s an actor after all. I should’ve realized that. Haha.

Both Andrew and Tobey wonderfully maintained the same respective personalities for their own Peter Parkers. The way they interacted together and talked with Tom’s Peter was emotionally well-written. Tobey served as a mentor, Andrew was someone who needed some encouragement that he too is amazing in his own way, and Tom—especially Tom—finally gets some actual character development and matures into an actual Spider-Man just like I was hoping he would be. The way I see it, this was the screenwriters’ way of uniting all Spider-Man fandoms together. We shouldn’t bicker who is the best Spider-Man or who’s the worst. They’re all great Spider-Men in their own unique way, and we should respect each other’s opinion when it comes to our personal favorite Spider-Man.

Just about everything in the movie was amazing. Jon Watts did an excellent job directing this movie and made one of the most successful MCU movies of all time which rivals even Endgame and Infinity War.

However, there were some things in the movie I honestly didn’t like. Both Lizard and Sandman were barely relevant for the plot and did almost nothing of importance for the story. Not to mention that Flint Marko was in sandy form the entire time. Why was Lizard in the truck while Peter was trying to fix the other villains? Could he not fit in the apartment with the others?

Also, I nearly forgot Happy was in this movie. This isn’t particularly a bad thing, but he barely appeared on screen for about 85% of the movie. He’s barely in this film!

The other thing that shook me was the death of Aunt May. I... I frankly hated that. It was really emotional and was honestly not something I expected to happen.

Is it just me or does the scene where Sandman gets back to normal at the end reused footage from Spider-Man 3? I could have sworn that scene looked very similar. They probably didn’t have the budget to get Thomas Haden Church to be on set maybe? Just get him back for a voice performance? Hmm.

Also, it would have been a lot cooler to have a sixth villain in this to form an actual Sinister Six. But since they only got five, it’s now the Sinister Five. Couldn’t they also get Rhino from The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

So yeah, that’s just about it. Despite those minor nitpicks I addressed, the movie was nearly perfect and was worth the wait. Plus, Willem Dafoe killed it in his reprise of Green Goblin. He was a lot more menacing and intimidating even without his goblin mask, he provided the biggest challenge for Tom Holland which no other villain had done before, and was a force to be reckoned with. He gave off Joker vibes when he physically fought Peter and laughed manically when Peter punched him repeatedly. He is now the best MCU villain right next to Thanos. You know, he’s something of a legend himself.

This movie gets an 11/10 from me as a movie reviewer. But as a Spider-Man fan, this gets a special type of score. It also gets an INFINITY/10!!!! This was truly an epic way to conclude the trilogy, and I look forward to seeing what lies in store for the Spider-Man franchise. Also, Andrew Garfield needs his third movie.

Peace!

A birthday present for my buddy Darth Wrex. Happy birthday again, bro!

Thanks, buddy.

I've only fully seen two other live-action Spider-Man films (I don't count Homecoming since I never paid attention to the whole thing while it was on), but I already know that no other movie will top this one. I'll admit, it's mainly because of the concept, but it's still fun.

However, I was not surprised to see Goblin again because I got spoiled on that. Thankfully, that was the only spoiler I got.

I got spoiled on a lot, willingly. I just wanted to know if those two certain somebodies were there...

But what really made this movie a humongous success was bringing in the stars of the other movies....Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire!!!!! The way they were re-introduced through the portals was the biggest surprise for me. I did NOT expect to see them in this movie. Hehe...

Tom—especially Tom—finally gets some actual character development and matures into an actual Spider-Man just like I was hoping he would be.

Speaking from your POV (since I never had issues with Holland's Spidey), it must have been fun to not only see him kicking ass, but kicking ass with a vengeance.

Why was Lizard in the truck while Peter was trying to fix the other villains? Could he not fit in the apartment with the others?

From what I've heard, he was waiting for things to go wrong.

I loved the movie a lot too! It dragged at some points, but I'll blame my anticipation for the action scenes and stuff.

(Also, the first mid-credits scene was somewhat disappointing, but I'm glad it's still going somewhere)

What about venom?

My complaints were that Tom Hardy’s Venom didn’t get a major role in the film, along with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock not getting to help Spidey as Daredevil and the Spider-Verse films being out of the picture.

To be honest, I didn’t care that Tom Hardy’s Venom didn’t get a role in this movie. Probably because his movies are from a universe where Spider-Man doesn’t exist. I’m still happy with what we got.

Also, it would have been a lot cooler to have a sixth villain in this to form an actual Sinister Six.

What villain would you have wanted to see as the sixth member, by any chance?

Also, did you know that this movie apparently won’t be the last time Tom Holland plays Spider-Man?

Did you read this part in the same paragraph?

Couldn’t they also get Rhino from The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

Also, yes, I already learned that before.

:twilightsheepish:Right. I forgot about that.

My only guess is that Watts and the writers likely couldn’t find much of a place for a sixth villain, even for a role in the film similar to Marko and Connors.

Maybe have Mysterio reveal his survival and attempts to lead the Sinister Six, only for the Green Goblin to hijack the part.

To bad venom didn’t get a large role seeing both Eddie and the symbiote interact with the others was really hoping for that since I saw the end credits for venom 2
