Hey there! It’s been a few months since my last blog post, and I thought today would be as good time as any to give an update on what’s been happening lately.
So, while I’d like to say things have been getting better, that isn’t the case. A few months ago, I told you guys about my dog Princess who had surgery for a tumor. Well, the tumor came back, and it’s cancer. Due to her advanced age, Chemo isn’t an option, so there were only two choices to make. Put her down or pay another two grand for a second round of surgery. Surgery is a bandaid because sooner or later, the cancer will come back.
Obviously, I chose the surgery. Her recovery was remarkable, but unfortunately, I can’t save her from time. Her arthritis has become more severe and taken away the use of her back legs. As of now, I support her with a sling, so she can still be mobile. I’ve bought a wheelchair for her, but she’s having difficulty adjusting to it. However, while a lot of this is sad, she’s still lively and not in pain. I’m in it for the long haul, so I’ll keep carrying her until her quality of life isn’t there.
For now, she just chills with the other dogs and me and is living the life of an old lady. As I know it’s only a matter of time; she’s being appropriately spoiled. Treats, scraps, and pretty much move from dried food to chicken I cook for her. So, don’t feel bad; it’s just how life is and expected. Even if she didn’t have cancer, dogs just live shorter lives; the fact she’s lived as long as she has with no health issues until her last years is amazing.
That doesn’t mean I’m not sad about it either, however expected it may be. It’s going to be hard, but I guess my way of coping is to spoil her, which does ease the pain a bit. However, it’s Christmas! So let’s not end on a sad note and instead focus on what I’ve been doing for my story. Progress has been slow, as expected, but it’s mainly due to me wanting stuff to be perfect. I’ve rewritten the first chapter at least six times, but I believe I’ve got the general layout.
Due to all the stuff happening IRL, I’ve decided I’m going to keep my story private until I finish it. Though this may change, or I’ll invite a small group of fans to review chapters. Not too sure. Now! With all of that stuff out of the way. For the holiday, I thought I’d bring a sneak peek for those who were interested enough to read my post. Just a word of warning, these are WiP segments that may or may not be in the final chapter. Enjoy your holidays.
C24: The end is Neigh (The leading chapter that will be posted for HML once HME releases)
“Nopony understands,” she says to herself. “Perfection has no time limit and I intend to make the greatest gift. A true act of generosity that has even been witnessed.”
She pricks her hoof by accident but doesn’t even flinch as she continues on, even as her blood seeps into the fabric she’s working on.
“It will be perfect. An artist must make sacrifices for their craft! Words are hollow and only actions bring change.” She tears a piece of lavender fabric from a nearby roll before patching it on. “I do so love this color on you, Anon.” Rarity giggles to herself before taking a step back and looking over her masterpiece.
There on a crudely made humanoid dummy is a suit. It’s a mismatch of different colors and fabrics, all bearing various splotches of blood from whenever she accidentally pricked herself. The suit is inspired by Discord, as the colors match the various parts he had.
C1: Changes
“Then please understand that I’m not the one you need right now to help your friends.” Pinkie closes her eyes as tears silently roll down her cheek. “I can never be like you, Pinkie. I can’t empathize with your friends. The only reason I started helping Twilight was that Celestia cares about her so much.” Anon sets her onto a nearby bed. “I still have a lot of thoughts about what she did. I can’t forget it, even if I wanted to, but I can never forget the fact that she saved me either.”
Anon sighs rubbing the back of his neck. “But I believe you’re not alone in wanting to help your friends.” Pinkie rubs her tears away and faces Anon just listening. “Twilight can understand their pain. You five have been friends for years. Expecting me to save any of you is asking too much, but I know you can save each other... All it takes is time and trust.”
“Do you really believe that?” Pinkie asks.
“I have to because the alternative isn’t pretty.” Anon pats Pinkie on the head. “You’ll always be my friend, Pinkie. So please, don’t stop smiling. It was the only thing that gave me hope back in Ponyville.”
Interesting sneak peeks. Can't wait to read more. I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but spoiling does help. We fed our last golden lots of ground beef in her final few months of life and she was in heaven. It makes a difference to them.
A good coping mechanism is the best you can do for yourself, since your'e already doing wonders for her. There is one more thing you might consider. Getting a second one while she can still teach it the ropes. In the long run, the younging will carry on her legacy
