Chapter 4 Notes: Lunarration, Announcements and a Guessing Game · 9:24am Dec 8th, 2012
Chapter 4 is up, and the first installment of real Luna material as promised by the character tabs. I hope everyone enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. There'll be lots more where that came from. I think I can recite "Luna Eclipsed" by heart now.
I did have a few comments to make after the chapter went up, but it’s a pretty stirring scene. Nothing kills a good buzz at the end of a chapter like a big, fat authors note about things like real life and plans. (Egads no!) Sadly those things are still important, so I'll be doing that here from now on.
First point is the time frame of chapters. Practically speaking, my two week estimate for updates is about right in terms of my production per man hour of writing and the number of hours I have per day to spend on fiction. Problem is that weeks NEVER go as planned. I’m resetting my chapter delivery goal to one chapter every three weeks, give or take a few days. I don’t like it, but it’s an honest assessment of what I can expect to accomplish now that I’ve been doing this for a few months.
Secondly, I’ve gone back and reread my previous chapters and made a happy realization: I’m already improving! Since practice is a major reason I started writing ViM, of course I’m excited. The flip side is I learned this by discovering the now-blaring errors I left in my work. I'll be going through ViM chapters 1-3 with a fine tooth comb over the next week to clean up the mess and get all of VIM on the level. The holiday season should be a good time to do it, since things actually quiet down around here for me and my family. I doubt it will have any impact on the finish date for chapter 5. Also, I would ask my readers that should they find errors in any of my chapters, please share it with me in a reply to this blog post or via private message and I'll get right on it.
The next chapter is already outlined and even has a few hundred words to its name. Twilight is back as our point of view character, so you can look forward to more of her inner adorkableness in the near future. A surprise character will be making an appearance. Any guesses as to who that might be?

I agree. Chapter 4 was really well-written. Looking forward to chapter 5! And, I think I already know who the surprise character is, so I won't ruin it for everybody.
