We Bare Bears Wish Upon A Christmas Star Chapter 11 Estellar's Wishing Star · 5:33pm Oct 28th, 2021

Upon entering the woods, with the sun setting over the trees, Grizz gave Karla all the directions to where the cave is located. It was easy for them to drive on the tire tracks on the snow while avoiding fallen branches along the way. It was a lonely Christmas Eve for sure, but always a special celebration.

When Karla saw the cave itself, she parked her car after turning it around. While holding onto the three bears, she opened the front door while immediately entering inside after closing it. “So this is where all of you live?” Karla looked at the cave itself.

“It's not much but it’s enough.” Grizz smiled.

“I will say we’re all safe after messing up a lot of people’s days.” Panda sighed.

“Hey don’t worry, they'll never turn on you when your wish wasn’t entirely malicious.” Karla placed the cubs on the chair only for her to see a group picture of them, as grown bears. “Judging how your lives were, it’ll take time to make this a normal life.”

Karla heads to the kitchen to wash her hands. It felt like she was back on the deserted island by entering a cave. However it wasn’t fear of her life ending with no more survival, it was peace and quiet. The bears waited patiently for her to come back so they could watch a Christmas movie.

Just when Karla used a towel for her hands, she heard the door being banged on. She immediately answers the door and it’s revealed to be the magician and Kazumi.

“Weren’t you two part of the parade hours ago?” Karla wondered.

“Yes, I was the one who helped Estellar with the magic acts, it wasn’t easy though.” The magician replied.

When Kazumi saw the three cubs again, they took notice with Panda standing up. “How did you two know where we lived?”

“We followed Karla’s tire trails.” She answered.

“Why are you two here?” Karla invited the two in. “I thought you were heading home after the parade ended.”

When the magician sat on the left side of the sofa with Kazumi sitting on the opposite side, she placed her hand on Ice Bear’s head. “It’s mostly about what happened at the parade. These bears aren’t in trouble though.”

“We feel we should celebrate the holiday knowing that…” Kazumi turned to the cubs. “The parade banned them.”

Grizz knew he got into the parade unauthorized while Panda jumped in. Ice Bear felt ashamed, mainly because he wasn't ready when he was on Estellar’s float. It was all Issac’s idea while dealing with a phase he’s relieving from his youth.

“Girls.” Karla crossed her arms. “There’s a reason why the parade almost became a disaster, but these cubs were harmless. They’re gonna move in with me first thing in the morning.”

“Let’s be real.” Grizz making a confession. “If we moved in right away, it won’t be the same either way.”

The magician and Kazumi were wondering why their destination was taking place in a cave. “You bears…have never had a real home before.” Kazumi commented.

“We were close to getting adopted but then…I had to go potty.” Panda lowered his head. “Let’s just say the lady went from sweet to salty.”

Karla would think about how painful the bears went through during their adventures but she would do what’s best at the moment, to ease their depression. “We shouldn’t be talking about this, it won’t be a Christmas celebration if you feel this way.”

Upon grabbing the TV remote, Karla turned it on. “You're right.” Grizz signed. “Being a cub felt more like a curse than a wish.”

“Let’s pick a movie while we’re eating something.”

When the magician heard the word wish, she believed in wishes when she was a child. Unlike others who think wishes are a myth. “How about I’ll take care of the food right away?” The magician smiled while getting off of the sofa.

“Yeah, after making ramen before the parade, it would be nice to eat something soon.” Kazumi is also standing up. “We'll be right back.” As the two enter the kitchen, the bears look at each other.

“I’m sure Kazumi enjoyed seeing us again, but I never imagined the magician would ever spend her Christmas Eve with us.” Panda looking at Ice Bear.

“She’s only caring when she's catching on.” Karla replied.

Once the two entered the kitchen, the magician took out her phone to text Estellar. She gave her the destination of the cave’s whereabouts along with the grizzly cub saying something about a wish. After sending her message, Estellar happily responded that she’ll be waiting outside upon arriving tonight. She knows what’s coming tonight, a way to give the bears her Christmas gift.

During the nightfall of Christmas Eve, Estellar didn’t drive her car in the woods where Karla, Kazumi, and the magician went by vehicle. Instead, she went there on foot, wearing her white cozy snow boots while holding onto a small candle to see what’s in front of her.

Back in the cave, the cubs and adults finished watching a wonderful Christmas movie that healed most of the depression away. Grizz is sitting next to Karla, Panda is in Kazumi’s grip, while Ice Bear’s laying on the magician’s lap. They had the leftover food from yesterday after the errands the bears did. Soon afterwards they all had Christmas cookies for dessert.

“Are you feeling a little better?” Karla turned to Grizz.

“Mostly, the movie we picked really cheered me up.” Grizz responded.

“Hey, it’s always a good thing to watch a Christmas film on the night before Christmas.” The magician smiled.

“So…what should we do now?” Panda wondered.

Karla looked at her watch and it was close to bedtime for the cubs. But before she does that, she feels the cubs need one more thing knowing tomorrow will be a new beginning. She didn’t miss the decorated tree with Christmas gifts around it. “Who are those gifts for?” She pointed.

“They’re for our friends.” Grizz answered. “We were planning to give them those today but…well you know.”

“You three really did a lot when you were older.” Kazumi smiled. “It’s actually a shame you won’t do this for next year.”

“Hey, at least we got everything before it was too late.” Panda replied.

“This must have taken you weeks to get everything for your friends.” The magician added. “Even my friends wouldn't be able to pull it off.”

“It’s called teamwork, bro.” Grizz cheered.

“You don’t say.” Karla giggled. “If only there were more bears, you would show them your leader.”

“Yeah…if only we saw another bear.”

Back outside, Estellar had arrived, but she wasn't going inside. The moment hasn't come yet and she’s willing to wait at the right time. Although she wasn’t bothered by the cold blizzard thanks to her winter clothes, she made sure no one aside from the magician could spot her. She stood in place until she decided when she’s ready to set things right.

Grizz yawned after eating his Christmas cookie. Soon Panda and Ice Bear became tired after the ludicrous day they had. “You know, I’m really gonna miss this cave tomorrow.” He said.

“You're right.” Panda also yawning. “It won’t be the same without my bedroom.”

“Hey, we’re still gonna bring your belongings along.” Karla cheered the panda up. “It's not much but enough to fill you in from where I live.” She then picked up Grizz while turning to Kazumi and the magician. “So…are you two gonna leave soon?”

The two had been thinking about it since they left the mall. “Okay this may be a bit much but…” Kazumi replied. “Is it okay if we can sleep in here too?”

Grizz and his brothers didn’t have any spare beds for any visitor who’s willing to sleep over. “We only have one sleeping bag in the closet.” Panda answered. “Even with that, one of you would have to lay on the ground without one.”

The magician knew there was going to be a setback coming her way. But on the other hand, it was just Kazumi who wanted to stay. “I don’t really need to stay.” She smiled. “I’m only here to make things better for you three bears.”

“Hey, if we were in the audience instead of working on the parade, we wouldn’t be bothered to be here.” Karla recalled.

“Anything can happen out of the ordinary. Especially innocent bears who deserve better.” The magician looked at the cubs after putting on her jacket.

“Thanks for taking me here.” Kazumi waved.

“It’s the least I can do.”

As the magician headed out of the cave, she saw Estellar still standing by herself. It didn’t phase her that her magician had to leave, it was only half of her plan before she leaves. “I’ve been in this cave before.” She spoked upon the magician walking up to her. “Are they in there?”

“Yeah, they’re going to be tucked into bed now.”

“Go wait inside my car.” She handed her the keys. “I’ll take it from here.”

With the magician taking her word, she leaves allowing Estellar to take it from here. She took her time to go to Grizz’s outside window, she saw that Karla was tucking Grizz in, allowing the grizzly cub to sleep in his bed for the last time.

“It still feels weird to sleep in a bed that’s far bigger for myself.” Grizz laying on his pillow. “I didn’t remember how big my bed was when I woke up this morning.”

“It seems last night really affected your wishes to be more life changing than you expected.” Karla replied. “But don’t worry, everything will be better in the morning.”

“Are you gonna give me a bed that’s the same size as a child’s bed?”

“Something like that. I was thinking you and the other bears would share the same bed. I don’t have a spare bed for one animal.”

Grizz did remember he had to sleep with his brothers from time to time but sharing the same mattress, he’s not sure if Panda or Ice Bear would be on board with it. “That would take time to get used to.”

“You sleep by stacking together, it was adorable when you did that.”

“True but we were cubs then and if we did that as grown bears, we would’ve broken the mattress.”

Karla giggled while covering Grizz up with his blanket. “When you turn ten, I’ll make sure you sleep in your own bed.” As she rubbed on Grizz’s head, she headed out of his bedroom by closing the door. Grizz slowly but surely drove himself to sleep. As for Estellar, she kept her smile during the whole moment. She then heads to where Panda’s window is located in the cave. When she saw what’s through the window, Karla was already tucking Panda in after picking him up from the living room.

“I know it’s hard that you won’t be Amanda’s boyfriend anymore but I’ll try to work things out with her.” Karla placed the stuffed animals around the cub.

“Like having her be my babysitter?” Panda wondered.

“Possibly, but you would still be at a daycare.”

Panda’s time with Amanda was short lived but he didn’t have a choice. “I want you to know that the day she returned felt like she was the one for me.”

“Was it because of your brothers?”

“Yes. Trust me, if I tell you the whole story, you would be amazed.”

“Panda, I would be willing to listen to that, but it’s getting late.” As she tucked Panda in, she headed straight to the door. “If there’s one thing I would do for you is to start from scratch. You know, acting like you're new to romance, anime and such?”

“That would mean I have to pretend I’m like every child in daycare.” Panda looking at his paws. “It’s going to be slower like time was.”

“You and your brothers will be fine, just look at the positives when we move to my place.” As she closed the door, Panda looked up at the celine after taking Karla’s words. He has to change or else he’ll be better off alone which is the last thing he wants. It was enough for Estellar to feel bad for the cub but it won’t be for long once she set things right. Her last window of the cave was the kitchen’s. On her way there, Karla took out a small ice pan while she put ice cubes in it. Ice Bear waited as he stood on the kitchen table, his future is questionable but he wasn’t concerned.

After getting just the amount of cubes inside, she picked up Ice Bear and placed him in the ice pan. “I promise I’ll give you cold temperatures when you need it.” Karla smiled. “Keep in mind, I’m not allowing you to sleep in my refrigerator, I need food to stay fresh at all times.”

Ice Bear didn’t enjoy sleeping without cold temperatures, but during his cub years with his brothers, his life without a home felt never-ending, even during the best times.

“By hey, if you're older enough, I’ll teach you how to speak when you're ready.” As Karla left the kitchen, Ice Bear slowly fell asleep, but soon he reopened his eyes, he saw Estellar from the window. As soon as he shook his head, no one was outside of the window. He was curious at first but his slumber got the better of him as he laid on the ice cubes.

Back in the living room, Kazumi was lying by the closet after she took the time to snug inside the sleeping bag. When Karla took out a spare blanket from the closet, she headed straight to the sofa to lay on it for the night. All she could think is how her life will be with bears part of her home. But she’s thankful, even how little it was to her. Her raising won’t be the same like every other parent however, she’ll never let the bears down, no matter what obstacles come her way.

As she and Kazumi fell asleep, with the Christmas lights from the tree still on, it was enough for Estellar to see everything. After leaving the door window, she went back to where she was standing. She took a deep breath while turning around, seeing the cave one last time. She looked up at the sky and saw the same shooting stars from yesterday. She knew they would return again after doing her research. She closed her eyes while making her wish.

“I wish for the three cubs to be grown up again, they deserve to have not only a great Christmas, but also a wonderful life.”

As she opened her eyes, her wish was granted. She heads back to her vehicle, as she’s heading home for the night, but she’s far from done with the bears.
