Greetings to you all! This is Mr. J here with another movie review for today! This afternoon, I will be talking about what I thought of the recent DC animated film called Injustice. This is an animated adaptation of the comic and video game with the same name. After watching the first trailer on YouTube last month, I was very excited to see it myself just like many other DC fans because... you know, I’m a DC fan. Just last Thursday morning, I took the opportunity to watch it for the first time online since I figured it’s better to see it then rather than later on. But after watching it, I gotta say... it was mildly entertaining albeit completely underwhelming, laughable, and unfulfilling.

The first thing this movie got wrong is how incredibly short it is. Don’t you think that this sort of story would require at least a two-part movie like what DC did with The Long Halloween? That two-parter is a masterpiece compared to this! The plot felt so rushed and incomplete because everything was happening so quickly I didn’t take time to process what happened next or previously. It’s literally only an hour and eighteen minutes. Why not make it an hour and fifty minutes or make parts 1 & 2 so that the characters and the story will be fleshed out?

My number one issue with the movie is the number of deaths it has. While the deaths of 11 million people in Metropolis, Lois, her unborn child, and The Joker were necessary to further the plot, the other deaths had the sloppiest executions ever and were done in the stupidest way possible. For example, the Flash dies in this. How? He got fatally sliced by a buzzsaw while he was infected with the fear toxin and had wooden arms holding his legs so he wouldn’t escape.

That was so fucking stupid. Flash is the FASTEST MAN ALIVE IN THE ENTIRE DC UNIVERSE. How can a fear gas and a bunch of woody hands stop a guy who could literally speed up his metabolism to escape his predicament? It feels like the writers had no idea how fast and strong Flash really is. The same can be said for other characters in this who were surprisingly nerfed to hell.

Atom is easily taken down by Superman by a chokehold, Nightwing gets a hit on his temple which instantly kills him for some reason, Solomon Grundy gets killed by Superman despite the fact he could easily resurrect because he’s an actual zombie, and some other characters felt so weak and underutilized.

What’s so funny is that nobody gave a rat’s ass about Flash’s death or even knew about it. Batman was like, “Oh no... anyway.”

As for the characterizations in this film, it was so hilarious people can make memes about it. Batman is an idiot who allows his own self-righteous morality to be patronizing to Superman despite what he was emotionally going through. And Superman was a dickhead as well who thought it was a good idea to massacre innocent children just because they were worshipping Joker. That was enough to convince Wonder Woman to not take sides with Supes anymore.

The animation is great, and the voice acting was great including Kevin Pollak’s take on Joker. Even though his Joker laugh could use more work, I thought he did a decent job voicing The Clown Prince of Crime. I also liked Zach Callison (Steven Universe) voicing Damian. A surprise to be sure but a welcome one. Now I am starting to imagine Steven Universe killing Nightwing by accident and throwing his pink shield in anger.

The interaction between Green Arrow and Harley Quinn was kinda cute. You gotta admit, she looks so adorable whenever she tries to be ally with the Justice League or whenever she’s causing shenanigans. Still inferior to Spinel though.

Overall, this film can be summed up like this: circus clowns becoming a laughingstock. As we speak, there are memes being uploaded on YouTube that will forever testify just how laughably dumb, rushed, and entertaining this movie really is. I had a great time watching it and filling that Thursday morning with good laughs. It gets a 6/10. Is it a guilty pleasure now? Not really. Is it something to laugh about when looking at its clips? Definitely.

Peace.

I can describe my main issue with this film in just three words:

SEVENTY FIVE MINUTES

This should've been an animated series from the start, or at the very least, a two-part movie like you suggested.

There is no freaking way they could've adapted 12 comic book issues full of character development and actually well-written drama into a movie that has a runtime of merely an hour and 15 minutes.

If you're interested, I highly recommend that you read those comics when you have the time.

Trust me when I say that they're a hell of a lot better than this rushed mess.

I may be mistaken but the temporal lobe is behind a thin section of bone so a hard blow could definitely cause enough damage to kill someone
