We Bare Bears Wish Upon A Christmas Star Chapter 9 Christmas Parade

Nearly everyone who came out of the mall and went to where the road had been blocked off for the parade itself were now standing around, waiting for it to begin. They waited behind the barricade for only three minutes until the show began. Chloe’s family came out of the exit of the mall, heading to the parade with Chloe feeling bummed out.

“Chloe, we’ve looked everywhere, we couldn’t find that polar bear cub.” Mr. Park said.

“Is he really that busy doing mail deliveries?” Chloe asked. “Even during a time like this?”

“There was nothing more that we could do.” Mrs. Park replied. “And we’re not gonna miss this parade while waiting for Ice Bear to come. He’s far beyond late at this point.”

Chloe may have been having a good Christmas Eve today, but she won’t get over the fact that her best friend didn’t make it today. She had an amazing Christmas Eve last year with him, but it won’t be the same without him this year.

“Well, at least I can tell him what we’ve done at the parade.” She smiled.

“It’s just like last year’s parade with Estellar at the end, what’s new this year?”

While they wait for the show, from the other side, Amanda and her friends arrive just in time. Tom kept holding onto Panda with the cub feeling empty inside. Aside from her friends, Amanda didn’t make any eye contact with her boyfriend.

“She doesn't even feel ready to enjoy the parade.” Panda spoked.

“Who’s to blame, you or the shooting star itself.” Tom sighed. “You should at least be thankful that I helped you.”

“I am!” Panda turned his head to Tom. “I never meant to put you in this position, if only my brothers had left me out of their wishes.”

“I realize that, but look where we are now!”

“Will you two please keep it down!” Amanda retorted while closing her eyes. “Having to deal with your problems isn’t appropriate right now.” She slowly calmed down with  a hint of remorse in herself. “Sorry.”

Panda and Tom remained stunned from Amanda’s slight outburst. When it comes to Samantha and the others, they didn’t bother to step in, only for Sari to stare at Tom.

“If you keep pushing it, you'll end up with nothing.” Sari immediately put her attention to the upcoming parade, leaving Tom speechless with the cub taking it personally.

“End up with nothing...seems like how we’re not getting taken away.” Panda said in disappointment. “Maybe staying at the cave would’ve prevented all of this from happening.”

Soon enough, Issac, Riley, and Marty arrive with their normal outfits on. Issac knows what he’s doing since he let Ice Bear go, as long as the parade doesn’t cause the cub to get stage fright.

“Issac.” Marty spoked to which caught Issac’s attention. “You did mention there were two other cubs right?”

“Yeah, how are your friends Griff and Tom doing with them?” Riley added.

Isaac may have received a text from Tom, but as for Griff, he’s received nothing at all. He hasn’t even seen him since he split up with him. But just when he opened his mouth, he then saw Tom not that far away with Panda in his arms.

“Follow Issac.” He responded while moving through the crowd.

“Do you always have to do that?”

“It’s his thing, don’t question it.” Marty rolled his eyes. After Issac and his friends took the time to get to another spot behind the barricade, they walked up by Tom for him to take notice.

“Issac.” He replied.

“Where’s Ice Bear?” Panda wondered.

“Ice Bear’s not here, but he’s not far away.” Issac answered with his friends took notice of Panda’s presence.

“Wonder where the other cub is.” Riley looked around.

“Wait, you mean to tell me that Griff isn’t here with Grizz?” Tom also looked around. “You can’t convince me that Grizz’s Crowbar Jones film was that chaotic.”

Panda placed his paw on his face after his experiences with Grizz’s films. “Then you wouldn’t believe how it feels when I helped out.” He then sighed, knowing full well his brother didn’t intend to get here in time.

“The parade is starting, I can see the marching band.” Daniella pointed at the marching band.

With confetti of red and green falling from the sky, the marching band kicked off the parade with the brass players blowing in their instruments. The drum players hit their drums at the right beat after their sessions, getting the approval from the audience from their performance. Soon a ballerina group dressed in white tiaras danced professionally while lifting their legs up in the air, thanks to their flexibility.

Chloe was slowly enjoying herself at the parade itself. With one roll of ballerinas doing a jete all together, she jumped in joy. Then the first float appears, a huge igloo with snowmans coming out, waving to the audience on each side.

“I wish Ice Bear was part of this, he’d fit in when he comes out of that igloo.” She cheered.

“True but he could be stuck inside the door when he comes out.” Mr. Park replied. “He’s bigger than the other snowmans.”

“He’s just kidding.” Mrs. Park looked down at her daughter.

After a couple floats come by, the following float is a new addition for this year’s parade. A designed japanese restaurant construction decorated with Christmas ornaments taking everyone by surprise.

“That’s odd.” Riley scratched his head. “Never expected something like this to be part of a parade.”

“That’s a ramen restaurant.” Amanda took notice from the design.

“Yeah…” Panda looking closely at the float. “I think I had ramen a long time ago.”

“You did?” Amanda turned to the cub.

Soon the door of the float opens, revealing herself as the chef of the ramen restaurant. While wearing a red and white kerchief around her waist, she showed off her wonderful kimono she had all the way from Japan.

“That’s Kazumi!” Panda smiled.

“You do know her.” Tom stunted in disbelief.

“Geez, being turned into a cub really gives you wish powers of past memories.” Samantha blinked.

After Kazumi took out two bowls of ramen, she went to the left to hand out one for one person with chopsticks. Upon giving the sample to a man, he turned around while heading to the other side. But then she stopped in place after seeing the same cub from two decades and a half ago. She never forgot the day she parted ways with the cubs when her business became a success.

“Little panda bear?” She walked up to Tom while looking straight at the cub. “You're still a youth?”

“Umm...it’s technically a long story.” Panda making an awkward smile while noticing the crowd from the left and right staring at him. “Shouldn’t you be doing your job? Your float is still moving.”

“Ohh!” Kazumi leaned back. “Can you accept this ramen?” She offered the cub her second bowl.

While meeting a familiar face, Panda isn’t hungry during a time like this. “How about my friend, he’s never had ramen before.” As Kazumi looked up to Tom, Tom didn’t expect an offer of food, even during a parade.

“Wait a second.” Tom gives Panda to Issac. “Letting you know, I never had ramen in my life.”

“Oh trust me, you would love it.” Kazumi smiled. Upon giving Tom the bowl of ramen, she heads back to her float. While the parade continued with more floats, Tom used the chopsticks while eating the ramen. His taste buds felt the sensation “So good,” he thought as his eyes sparkled. “She’s right. I LOVE IT!” He continued to eat the ramen, having him tasting more of the dish.

“This is mostly to make up for everything you’ve gone through today.” Panda smiled while he turned to Kazumi, handing out more bowls. “It’s still unbelievable that she traveled all the way here.”

After floats of a gingerbread house, five decorated Christmas trees, and a train with people inside, the main attraction of them all is saved for last. A Christmas carol group sings from their song books while standing on the lowest level of the float. The float had presents of all types but on top was a sleigh with two girls on top. One who’s a magician while the other is Estellar herself.

The crowd cheered in delight, while red and green confetti fell from the sky. Estellar had a microphone earpiece one her ear. She wasn’t going to give a speech but since she added a special surprise to the parade, she knew everyone would approve of it.

“Estellar…” Both Panda and Tom’s eyes sparkle upon the appearance of Estellar herself.

Soon, the float slowed down, causing the floats behind it to stop. Karla, who took control of the float itself, turned on the speakers for Estellar to make the sudden move.

“Merry Christmas everyone.” She smiled at the audience. “Last year’s parade doesn’t compare to this year's, right? Well apparently I've got something to show you all.”

The magician used her magic wand as sparkles poof out, revealing a large present in her hand. She gave it to Estellar as Estellar pulled the strings from the present. While taking the cover top off, she took out Ice Bear, revealing him to the crowd. “Please welcome this cute and lovable polar cub.”

Panda and Tom soon blinked seeing the polar cub part of the parade in a position like this. “Did…Ice Bear manage to convince the parade to have him included?” Panda blinked.

“Issac disagrees, but was prepared for the unexpected.” Issac commented.

“Ice Bear’s wish really felt more like a Christmas miracle than an adventure.” Tom added.

Ice Bear stays into the grip of Estellar while watching nearly everyone cheering for him. Even by not waving, his affection was far too adorable for the children in the crowd. But the shocking thing is, he wasn’t being told what he’s really here for.

Estellar walked up to the edge from the top while holding onto the cub, preventing him from falling but it wasn’t her intention. “Pick a child.” She spoked while the cub turned around. “Pick a child so she can have you as an award.” She didn’t stutter even with the microphone still connected with the speakers. Every single kid in the crowd had the shocking thought of going on a high float while earning a polar cub just made this Christmas Eve a once in a lifetime.

Soon every child from both sides screamed and breg for Ice Bear to pick one of them to come up. Estellar waited patiently while the polar cub looked closely to pick the winner.

He saw Chloe and her parents a little farther away but he can still recognize them. He pointed at Chloe while Estellar saw where he’s pointing to. Even in her mind, she can tell that he doesn’t want to speak, from his body language along with his eyes, she has no problem helping him out.

“That young girl with the glasses.” She looked at Chloe who took notice. “Come on up here.”

Chloe was stunned in disbelief, witnessing the opportunity of a Christmas miracle. She looked straight up at her parents who were just as shocked as she is. “Go up there.” Mrs. Park smiled.

“I can’t believe this is happening.” Chloe blinked while she went under the barricade. Being in the center of the road, everyone cheered for her to go on the float with Estellar and Ice Bear waiting. As for Ice Bear, even if he isn’t a grown bear, he still manages to give Chloe an interesting surprise.

Outside of the parking lot, Griff, Nom Nom, and the crew members looked everywhere after seeing the tike outside. “Where is Andy and Grizz?” Griff looking around. “How can they still be fighting while driving?”

“The bigger question is…how is Andy Bangs this relentless when all he could’ve done is stop and push Grizz Jr. out?” Nom Nom retorted. “I want to beat him, but this is over the top, even for him.”

One of the crew members saw flying balloons from a distance. “The parade is this close to finishing, are they even aware of the parade?”

“You know when you mention the parade, it really says a lot more of how ridiculous this is!” Nom Nom turned to the crew.

“Nom Nom!” Griff turned to the koala. “Grizz Jr was Grizz the whole time! He made a wish last night, he turned into a cub this morning, and then-“

“He has to reverse the wish.” Nom Nom sighed while Griff stood in place. “If Grizz really had cave fever this whole time, his so-called son wouldn’t be here. Where’s the irony here?”

The three adults felt speechless, while the koala expected nothing more. “Wait, that cub was actually Grizz this whole time?” The second crew member catching on.

“Yes.” Griff lowered his head. “Let me tell you, I find it hard to believe that wishes actually came true.”

“Don’t act casual, I found out Grizz’s secret the minute I met him today.”

“You do realize you’ve put him in this situation knowing full well of what was going on, right? Tell me, you're out of your mind when you only think about yourself and no one else.”

Soon they heard the tike tires from the left, revealing Grizz, Andy Bangs and his friend still driving. They ran past them while they’re heading to the parade itself, where the open parking lot is where all the floats stop.

Griff and the crew members tried to catch up while Nom Nom stayed in place. Ever since he woke up this morning, his Christmas Eve hasn’t been good when he arrived at the mall. But at the same time, Grizz did so many good deeds while he’s with him by his side. He wanted to make it up to him, but he doesn’t know how to.

He sighed, while looking at the running tike heading straight to the parade. “I better get something in return. He tried to keep me from getting hospitalized.”

Back at the parade, Chloe got on top of the float while witnessing Estellar standing in front of her while still holding onto Ice Bear. She leaned down, placing Ice Bear down on the ground. “Merry Christmas.” She smiled.

When Chloe and Ice Bear looked at each other, Chloe remembered clearly it wasn’t a different cub then last time. She walked up to him while looking straight in his eyes. Ice Bear slightly blink, while placing his paws on Chloe’s shoulders.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” The magician turned to Estellar.

“Give them the time, it won’t last forever.” Estellar responded back.

“Ice Bear?” Chloe backed away.

The polar cub wanted to tell the truth by saying a simple word but he couldn’t. He wanted to spread holiday cheer even after his wish turned into full effect however he’s unsure how he’ll spend his life. Estellar and the magician notice the way the cub stood still, while not enjoying himself during this moment.

“On second thought, you're right.” Estellar commented in concern. “There’s something odd about him.”

“Look out!” A shout from the distance, catching the attention from the crowd.

“Was that...a screaming child?” The magician blinked.

When Panda and the others saw where that voice was coming from, Grizz and Andy Bangs were still fighting while avoiding any crashes towards other people in the parade. “Grizz!?” Panda reacted.

“Will you get out of my tike you deranged grizzly psycho!” Andy retorted in anger.

“Never you studio crasher!” Grizz shouted back.

Soon they drove by Kazumi, after she gave more ramen to the crowd. “Huh?” She reacted, after seeing the tike interfering the parade. Soon more people part of the parade got out of the way preventing any physical incident.

“Grizz is in trouble!” Panda pointing at his brother.

“Sorry, but the parade is off limits.” Tom reacted.

“He could get hurt!” Amanda also pointed. “Somebody needs to do something!”

Issac notices that Griff is running through the parade while losing his breath. After all this time without getting his response, he instantly knew what really happened with him and Grizz. Isaac jumped over the barricade surprising the crowd while he ran as fast as he could to catch up to the tike.

“Issac!” Griff slowing down.

Ice Bear and the others from the float saw the chaos ensued. “This wasn’t part of the rehearsal.” Estellar speaked through her microphone.

“I know. It seems like two kids are hijacking the show…” Karla spoked while also looking closely at the montier. “...with a grizzly cub inside??” She then took off her headset while heading out of the control booth.

Soon Issac manages to run fast enough to catch up to Grizz and Andy. After driving past Estellar’s float, he grabbed both ends as he pulled the tike itself. Andy along with his friend notice their tike slowing down as they turn around.

“Um, I think we should just end this contest.” Andy’s friend responded. “We’re taking this a little too far.”

“I would rather prove to Nom Nom that I’m better than him!” Andy shouted at his friend.

“I’m telling you, you have lost it!”

“So agreeing with you!” Grizz slipping away.

“Fine, then you get out!” Andy kicked his friend out of the tike while he pulled Issac’s leg. It caused Issac to let go of the tike, with Andy running on full force with his legs.

“Let go of him!” Griff said, running up to Issac. “He’s gonna ruin the whole parade!”

“Issac will still prevent non-stop mayhem during parades.” Issac said, staring at the tike still running loose. While Andy’s friend let go of him, he continued to chase after them. Ice Bear and Chloe saw the chaos from the back of the float. Ice Bear wanted to help his brother but unfortunately, he might make things worse for Grizz.

Then Andy’s drone appeared in the parade, it got lost after Andy drove out of the mall. After moving out of their spot, Panda and the others had to move down while passing the crowd, keeping up with the chaos.

“Issac’s definitely gonna be banned from this parade.” Riley commented.

“I’m mostly aware of Grizz’s problem.” Panda responded.

“Guys, we can’t keep up with them, they’re driving past the people in cartoon costumes.” Sari added.

“Ahhh! This is hopeless!” Samantha bumping into a grown adult. “The parade isn’t gonna be better after Estellar’s gone!”

Both Estellar and the magician had enough of the madness going on. “This is getting out of hand.” The magician placed her hand on her hip. “We need to do something.”

“Don’t worry, Karla is getting the security, this won’t get any worse.” Estellar gives the magician an honest look. Then the drone flew over the float, bumping into Chloe.

“Ahh!” Chloe fell from the float but Ice Bear took notice as he grabbed onto her arm. Then he also fell while holding onto a small attachable present. Apparently for him, he won’t be able to get back on top due to Chloe’s weight. Chloe’s family saw the whole thing while they gasped in fear.

“Chloe’s in danger!” Mrs. Park leaning over the barricade.

“Let’s get over there!” Mr. Park pulled his wife’s arm.

Chloe sees what’s below her, nothing but the ground while he’s slipping from Ice Bear’s grip. “I can’t hold on, help us!”

Just when Issac was close enough to stop Andy, he heard Chloe screaming. He stopped himself while heading to the back of Estellar’s float. “What is this!?” The magician picking up the drone. “How did a drone get through this parade illegally?”

“It has something to do with that kid.” Estellar placing her hand on her hip.

Nom Nom arrived at the parade after running past most citizens in the crowd. “Out of my way!” As he saw a driving tike heading back, he climbed up the barricade while trying to have a better view. “Andy, you're really gone off the deep end now!”

Grizz saw the koala on the edge of the barricade, he pushed on Andy’s arm, forcing him to drive slightly left. They ran past him while they took a one hundred and eighty degree turn.

“I can’t take it anymore.” Panda got out of Tom’s arms while jumping into the parade.

“Panda, you're gonna get yourself banned!” Amanda called.

“It’s worth it! My brothers are in danger!” He ran on four legs to find Grizz.

Mr. and Mrs. Park saw their daughter seconds away from impacting on the road. Ice Bear tried to hang on but he’s soon to slip. Lucky for him, Issac arrived just in time to catch them before it’s too late. But once he lifted his arms up, he heard Andy’s tike coming back. When they did yet another one hundred and eighty degree turn, they didn’t have the chance to turn in time.

“Look out!!!” Grizz screamed while Issac moved out of the way just in the nick of time. They bumped into the float itself, causing Estellar to lose her balance but the magician grabbed onto her, preventing her from falling off.

Then Ice Bear lost his grip, falling from the float with Chloe screaming in fear. But just in time, Issac jumps onto the tike, catching the cub and child just in time. Then the crowd cheered while Chloe’s parents sighed in relief.

“Oh gamsahabnida.” Mrs. Park smiled in korean.

Once Issac jumped off the tike, Griff, the crew members, and Panda arrived to see Andy and Grizz crawling out. They may manage to prevent any injuries after the crash but Grizz couldn’t even stand up after the madness he went through. Andy on the other hand didn’t even break a sweat.

“I told you I was gonna end up victorious in this contest.” He grinned. “Looks like Nom Nom’s going to have a sweet stench of defeat once he sees me on top.” Then much to his own ego, a soda drink was thrown at his head from behind, and then a bag of popcorn. “Ow!” When he turned around, the crowd was booing him after the incident he caused. All the while a few people recorded everything from their phones.

Karla arrived at the parade just when the impact occurred. “Who do you think you are!?” She walked up to the child with security by her side. “You almost hurt a young cub and a child!” She pointed at Ice Bear and Chloe.

Nom Nom saw Andy Bangs getting blamed for it all, while seeing the magician coming down, holding onto Andy’s drone. “Wooah, wait a second, there’s a huge misunderstanding.”

“How would you call this a misunderstanding?” The magician put her foot down. “Was this your drone!?”

“Ummm…” Andy sweat knowing that he’s close to getting busted.

“Yes it was.” Grizz lifted his head up. “And all of this is his idea, not mine.”

“You're the one who-” Andy retorted only for Karla to step in front of him.

“He’s a cute and lovable bear, he’s not even big enough to drive a tike.” Karla shouted back. “And worst of all. You could’ve killed Estellar while she’s up there!” Upon pointing from the top of the float, Andy looked above while witnessing Estellar crossing her arms, shaking her head in disapproval.

“Uhhh!!” Andy reacted in realization. “At least she didn’t fall from up there.”

“We’re not ignoring the fact that you just hijacked the festival!” The magician placed her hand on her hip. “You're gonna be in so much trouble when your parents find out about this!”

“Wait, you don’t understand, I’m Andy Bangs.”

“Yeah, except a jump scare kid wouldn’t drive recklessly in a tike like every other child who’s under the age of twelve.” Griff rolling his eyes.

Andy had no alternative to get out of his predicament. And with his drone being damaged from its wings, he groaned in defeat. “I should’ve left that stupid kiddie’s film alone.”

As the security took Andy Bangs out of the parade, Nom Nom was thankful. Even if the contest ended the way he didn’t want, he still got his revenge thanks to Grizz. “What’s going on!” Kazumi walked up behind Issac who turned around. Just when she saw the tike, she noticed the polar cub in Issac’s arm, along with the grizzly bear being picked up by Karla. “Am I...seeing baby bears?”

“Issac has everything under control.” Issac said, protecting Ice Bear from the Japanese chef.

“No, I’m not gonna hurt him.”

“I am so lost right now.” Chloe commented.

Karla then saw Panda standing in place. As if it wasn’t enough that she saw Grizz when she was working, but now she’s in the presence of the same three bears she remembered decades ago.

“Karla.” One of the security guards called, getting her attention. “We need to get back to the parade, everyone is waiting.”

“Don’t worry but I should take these bears, including the polar bear.” She pointed at Ice Bear. “I’ve remembered them and yet they’re still...like jellybeans.”

“Karla?” Grizz’s memory comes back to him.

Karla would be thankful to meet all three bears at once, but not like this. She’s just confused as focusing on the parade.

“What are we supposed to do with this drone?” The magician showing the device. “This wasn’t meant to broadcast the parade.”

“I’ll take it from here!” Nom Nom jumped onto the road while everyone turned to the koala. “It’s still Andy’s property, I’ll give it back to him.”

“Okay, but please don’t go over the barricade, there’s like seven people who’ve done that.” The magician handed the drone to Nom Nom.

“No problem, get back to your parade.” As the koala headed back into the crowd, the bears and others head forward to where the parade ends. Estellar, who stayed on top of her float, saw all three bears even from above. She wasn’t in disapproval with them unlike Andy because she remembered them not long ago. In fact, she can tell they're the same bears as before, but knows they’re far too young.

All the bears saw Estellar from above. “Ummm...do you think everyone could see us now?” Panda looking at Grizz.

“We’re still being broadcast right now.” Grizz lowered his head. “At least we’re not in trouble.”

Soon the magician got back to the top of the float but Estellar placed her hand on her shoulder. “When we’re done here, find those three bears.” She requested. “I’m sure they need more help if we can figure out their problem.”

“Okay, but we really need to keep this going.” The magician replied. Soon enough, the parade resumes itself with the crowd cheering in happiness. After Kazumi got back to her float, she witnessed the bears still being carried away. When she turned to the opposite side, she saw Tom and the others trying to keep up with the cubs. As much as she wants to meet the three bears again, she still has to do her job until the parade’s all over.
