Hello, my wonderful friends! This is Mr. J with a special movie review for today! Today’s the day where I finally speak about one of the most iconic action franchises and one of the most well-known action films of all time: John Wick (2014)! To be frank, I’ve heard of this character and the film series so many times while I didn’t have the opportunity to watch the films. It wasn’t until over a month ago or so that I started to watch the whole trilogy online. Guys, everything in this franchise made me an instant fan, and this is now one of my favorite franchises ever.

As for as this movie is concerned, it is full of awesome action scenes, amazing choreography, and realistic performances. I thought it was an intriguing way to start the series and a great introductory movie in every way possible.

Our main character, John Wick, has recently lost his wife and had to endure being alone for a few days until he unexpectedly received a parting gift from her... a cute little dog. Along with it came a letter written by his wife before her death stating her sorrow for not being able to be with him and wanted to give him something to remember her by—a gift that would fill a crater in his soul so he wouldn’t be alone.

Happy, John spends a wonderful night and day with his dog... but not for long. Tragedy struck him when home invaders stole his car and heartlessly killed his dog, severing the tie between him and his late wife. Heartbroken and enraged, his old life of being a renowned assassin comes back and motivates him to exact vengeance on those who ruined his life.

John Wick is one of the most compelling and... terrifying protagonists I’ve ever seen in a movie. I’m not even saying this lightly. It really makes me wonder how the Joker will respond to him or interact with him. Sorry, buddy, you are dead meat to John Wick. He ain’t no Batman.

He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will. He is not only the emissary of death but also a man bound by his rage and thirst for revenge. Gosh, his cold and stern personality is spot-on. Keanu Reeves was the perfect choice to cast this character. Remember, guys, if you don’t want The Bogeyman to come to your door, never mess with another man’s dog... or any animal for that matter such as birds.

Michael Nyqvist (RIP) was a really good antagonist in this film. Out of all three movies, he is the only antagonist who both understands John Wick and fears him, considering the personal history he had with him for many years. Plus, he seemed to be the most human out of them all. For instance, despite the fact he was angry at his arrogant brat of a son for killing John Wick’s dog and stole his car—and thus provoking him to come hunting for him—he still loved his child and wanted him to be safe.

Interestingly enough, he the villain is the one introducing the protagonist. That’s one of the things I love about this movie; usually, heroes introduce their villains with a sense of dread or respect, but the roles are reversed here. The antagonist expounds on the main character’s backstory and his overall personality and how ultimately dangerous he is. That’s why Viggo eventually accepted his fate at the end and tried his best to avenge his son’s death (although in vain).

Props also to Ian McShane for playing Winston, Willem Dafoe as Marcus, and Lance Reddick as Charon. They are also my favorite characters in this film... especially Winston and Charon.

Lastly, the action scenes were spectacularly entertaining. We see John Wick’s expertise in firearms and hand-to-hand combat. Although these scenes can be very intense and bloody, you can’t help but root for him to emerge victorious and for his enemies to get their just comeuppance... although I did feel bad for some of the thugs.

Overall, this was a great action film that deserves a 9/10!

Peace!

To to honest, I love the movie and the Actor who play John Wick

I haven’t seen the “John Wick” series, but I wouldn’t mind doing so at some point considering the impressive cast members it has.

Out of curiosity, what do you classify films that you rate either 8 or 9 out of 10?

5583188
If you look at my rating scale in every movie review, those type of movies are those that are really great with minor flaws that are neither annoying nor serious.

5583191
Oh.

So, are the movies you rate 7 out of 10 the ones you consider to be guilty pleasures?

5583194
Those would be 6/10s actually. But not all the 6/10s are rewatchable.

5583195
Now I see.

I was just curious because I couldn't tell what rating was the one for guilty pleasures.

For me, any movie, show, or episode special that I rate four out of five stars is a guilty pleasure.

5583196
I see that.

Also, whenever you watch the John Wick films, I just want to let you know that there is some profanity and blood on screen since these are rated R movies. So watch them with caution.
