    R.I.P. Mr. Akira Toriyama

Just found out that the creator of the Dragon Ball series has passed away from a health complication. He was only in his late 60s when he passed on. In my honest he was taken far too soon.

Give respect and tribute to this man who has left a legacy within the anime, manga, and video game community. :applecry::pinkiesad2:

Transformers: Scramble City · 11:18pm Aug 7th, 2021

Here's a little something you Transformers fans might find interesting, well at least for you new young fans. There was an actual Japanese ova of Transformers 1986 that was set before the Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Transformers: Scramble City Activation, mostly referred to as just Scramble City is an episode of The Transformers released as an OVA (Original Video Animation) in April 1986. It was created as a promotional video for the new line of 'Scramble City' toys and the cassettes were paired with the toy sets.

Despite strong belief (such as that voiced on the 20th Anniversary DVD bonus commentary for the episode), it was not meant to introduce Japanese audiences to the new characters from The Transformers: The Movie (considering Ultra Magnus, Ramhorn, Steeljaw, and Ratbat are the only ones from the film that appear in it).

Chronologically, it takes place years before the movie, during the early stages of construction on Autobot City.

And here's both the intro and the full theme song which is quite catchy. This is the most mid-80s anime opening song ever! It's gloriously cheesy and catchy at the same time! Man I love the 80s!:pinkiecrazy:

Oh that great. As for me. I have ended up getting addicted to the full Japanese Transformers theme song. Which is quite catchy. This is the most mid-80s anime opening song ever! It's gloriously cheesy and catchy at the same time! Man I love the 80s! I think they also used this theme for the Japanese release of G1 Transformers cartoon as well.

Remember seeing this as a bonus somewhere (animated movie DVD?), it was a nice link between the movie and series!

Yes indeed. And that Japanese opening theme song. Its cheesy yet quite catchy and addictive to listen to. Man, I love these 80s anime opening themes.:pinkiehappy:

5565543
80s anime had the best themes imo.

In terms of songs, I prefer Destron, Song of Praise.

5565545
Yes, but let's not forget the 90s anime open theme song too.:pinkiecrazy:

90s is a close second!:pinkiehappy:

5565546
Whoo! That's a good one too! And it makes you proud to be a Decepticon! Mwa-ha-ha-ha! :pinkiecrazy:

ALL HAIL MEGATRON!!!:pinkiecrazy::yay:

5565538 When it comes to Openings in Japan around the 8ods were either montages of clips to come or really up beat music to a complex animated scene that had little to no connection to the show. all depends on what the show needed at the time. I have a friend that was better at
explaining it all He want's to be an animator himself so he studied the subject extensively.

Ah, I see. Well I still wouldn't mind listening to this for the original G1 opening.

5565787 Agree, back in those day opening were treated differently then today. A lot of things where named differently only because of marketing and what corporate executives say.
Like Nickelodeons Chalk Zone they executives hated the name because it didn't have the main character's name paste in the main title but they let it slide only because the opening theme said it so many times.

This idea was thrown out because an argument was written into the polite. It was an Argument an animator had with his manager about a vacation, or so the story goes.

Hey, I remember that seeing a while back. It was a pilot episode for a potential cartoon. I heard many rumors that it was drop after the 9/11 Incident or some other reason.

Which is a damn shame. It looked like it could've been quite a popular show for the Steampunk fans of the early 2000s. Not to mention it one of those early anime inspired art style western cartoons too.

Nowadays there are several cartoons that had art styles inspired by anime.
